Sucrose sulfate-aluminum complex was prepared by the application of aluminum dihyd roxychloride to the aqueous solution of the sodium salt of sucrose sulfate. Comparative examination was made on the inhibitory effect of this complex and the starting sodium salt of sucrose sulfate against experimental peptic ulcer. It was there by found that the complex had greater anti-ulcer action against pylorus-ligated rat than the sodium salt. The sodium salt of sucrose sulfate has the action of suppressing pepsin activity of the gastric juice but not that of stomach acidity. On the contrary, the complex markedly inhibits stomach acidity, as well as anti-pepsin activity, and the complex was found to have better anti-ulcer action than the sodium salt. Sucrose sulfate-aluminum complex was effective against histamine ulcer in guinea pigs.
