The time course study of leucocyte emigration in acute experimental inflammation using carboxymethyl cellulose pouch method was done in order to decide optimal time for assay of steroidal anti-inflammatory agents. Consequently all the assays were carried out 7.5 hours after the injection of CMC. The relative potencies between hydrocortisone acetate and other corticosteroids by this assay were shown in Table I. The order of inhibitory activity with tested steroidal anti-inflammatory agents, viz., fluocinolone acetonide>triamcinolone acetonide⪇fluoroformylone>betamethasone 17-valerate>prednisolone acetate>hydrocortisone acetate, was in agreement with data obtained in other laboratories.
