In order to clarify the action of a proprietary drug "Rokusingan", its componental crude drugs (Bufonis, Bezoar, Moschus, Borneo-Camphora, Realgar, and pearl powder) were examined for mutual complex action. As a result of blood pressure measurements and analysis of central pulse wave form, the site of action of Rokusingan was assumed to be in the cardiac side, and Bufonis was proved to be the principle among the componental crude drugs responsible for this action. It was also found that Bufonis effected elevation of blood pressure after a transitory fall, and it was presumed from experiments that this fall of blood pressure was due to its stimulative action on the vagus nerve and hypertension to direct action on the myocardium and stimulation of the ganglion. While this hypertensive effect of Bufonis is not affected by each of the componental crude drugs alone, combination of Bezoar, Moschus, and Fel bovis inhibited this action by their conjugated effect. It was thereby revealed that the action of "Rokusingan"on circulation system was accompanied with a conjugated action.
