The quaternary base fraction of Korean Corydalis was examined. The alkaloids isolated from this fraction by means of alumina column chromatography were berberine nitrate, berberine chloride, coptisine nitrate, and noroxyhydrastinine. On the other hand, reduction of the quaternary base fraction to tertiary bases with sodium borohydride afferded dl-canadine, dl-tetrahydrocoptisine, and dl-tetrahydrocorysamine. From this finding, the presence of corysamine in situ was suggested.
