Hofmann degradation reaction was carried out with 17-oxysparteine and sparteine, and the structures of the produced intermediates, α-des-N-methyloxysparteine (IV), α-des-N-methylsparteine (XV) and β-des-N-methylsparteine (XIV), have been determined.
