Palladium-catalyzed Direct β-Arylation of Carbonyl Compounds with Aryl Halides

Abstract

A direct functionalization of carbonyl compounds is essential in organic synthesis. While palladium-catalyzed α-arylations of variety of carbonyl compounds with aryl halides have been well reported, the corresponding β-arylations are much less explored. Herein palladium-catalyzed direct β-arylation reactions of carbonyl compounds such as carboxylic esters and ketones with aryl halides are reviewed.
