    The evaluation for the interior visual environment has always been investigated in a steady state because of it's simplicity. But the workers in the room are actually never in such condition. The directions of their sight lines are varied from time to time, so their eyes are not always perfectly adapted to the luminances of their working planes. Considering this actual movement of their sight lines, authors have introduced the dynamic concept in the evaluation for visual environment, in which the change of adaptation luminance with time is taken into account. The purpose of this research is to develope the lighting design technique according with the worker's actual visual conditions. In this paper, the results on the observation about the fluctuation in the worker's visual field luminance, depending both on the movement of the worker's sight line and the variation of the daylight, are reported. In addition, the results of measurment of the time taking to change the visual direction are contained in this report. These data are thought to be useful to decide the design condition necessary to the dynamic evaluation technique for luminous environment.

    The study on the outdoor thermal environment around the building has been increasing in number. In such a kind of study, it is necessary to measure the factors exactly which form the outdoor thermal environment. One of the most important problem is the influence of solar radiation on the measurement of such factors in a sunny place. In this paper, it is mentioned that the influence of solar radiation on the air temperature which is measured by thermo-couple and on the globe temperature is examined by the outdoor experiments. The main contents of the outdoor experiments are as follows ; (1) The air temperature is measured by the thermo-couple, changing the diameter of thermo-couple element, the covering of its surface and shading the sunshine, to examine the relation between the measuring errors and the solar radiation and the wind speed. (2) The distributions of the temperature on the globe surface are measured, under various sun's altitude conditions, and the agreements between the average temperature of the globe surface and the globe temperature are examined. (3) The agreement between the calculated globe temperature and the measured one is examined, in connection with the duration time of the varing amount of solar radiation and the fluctuating wind speed.

    In winter of Japan, solar radiation is considered to be effective for thermal comfort. Therefore, the plan type of house mainly facing to the south has been traditionally adopted. However, high density residence in urban area has required the plan facing to the west or east not to the south. It is needed to investigate the thermal environment in residences facing to the east or west from the view point of thermal comfort. In this paper, thermal comfort indoors is discussed mainly for radiation effect based on field observations for both of the south-north rooms residence and the east-west rooms residence. The effect of indoor solar radiation in winter expressed as the effective radiant temperature is the most intensive in the south room, two times larger than the east and west room. Thermal environment in the room is predominantly formed by solar radiation transmitted through the window, even in case there is no direct solar radiation. Awnings, devices added above the windows to intercept solar radiation, make thermal environment worse in the case of no incidence of direct solar radiation. The thermal comfort indices such as the P4SR and the index of thermal stress were used to evaluate the indoor thermal environment of residence in summer, but they were not able to show the difference in thermal comfort between residences facing to the south and the east or the west.

    The radiant heat transfer problem in an enclosure with both of diffuse radiation at surfaces and non-radiative medium can be analized using the radiant transport function, which is useful to express the radiant transfer characteristics in the enclosure and to get the solution corresponding to any surface temperature. The radiant transport function should be analytically solved, because which has at least two variables. The generalized formula for the radiant transport function is composed of the integral equation. Thereby, an approximate method getting the analytical solution is indicated, using the separated kernel for the integral equation. Regarding the two-dimensional rectangular space, the approximate solution and the error estimation for the radiant transport function are presented, substituting the normal orthogonal function for the kernel. In a square space a calculation is performed to get the solution of the radiant transport function, using the Legendre polynomial as the normal orthogonal function. The result shows that the solution is reasonable and the error estimation is not so large excluding the points close to the end of both sides probably owing to the quality of the Legendre polynomial.

    Recently, residential houses tend to be well insulated. As the heat loss through building envelops by heat conduction is considerably reduced with well insulation, the portion of heat loads caused by the natural ventilation is increased in such houses. On the other hand, room surface temperatures are important when considering the thermal comfort of building. Therefore, the natural ventilation and radiant heat exchange are essential factors for the computer simulation to predict the thermal comfort and the heat loads. A method for the calculation of room temperature variation combined with natural ventilation and radiant heat exchange among room surfaces is described in this paper. Since the temperature of room surfaces are related each other with radiant heat exchange among the surfaces, the dimension of the simultaneous equation composed of heat balance of the room air and the building components usually exceeds 100 for a ordinary sized house. In addition to this the air flow balance equations for the calculation of natural ventilation1 are non-linear. Therefore long processing time is needed if solving the simultaneous equations directly solved, in order to save the processing time the method reducing dimension of heat balance equations to the number of the total rooms by algebraic operations is used in this study. The Newton-Raphson method with the accelerate coefficient was used for speedily convergence of non-linear simultaneous equations. As the proper initial room pressures are needed for solving the equations, the method finding the initial pressures is also described. Example calculations were carried out for a well insulated house using the average weather data of Tokyo in order to examine the effects of the air flows in a residential house on the heat loads and the room temperature variations.

    This is a report of the fundamental investigations for the planning of the basic parks for community use to the residential distict. The purpose of this report is to make clear the characteristics of 5 parks classified by the combinations of 3 types of the basic parks for community use (which are Infant, Children's and Neighborhood Parks). The results obtained are as follows ; 1. The standards of park's public service in the residential district are decided by the combinations of 3 types of parks from the view point of children's play life, and its standards are related to their utilization forms. 2. The characteristics of utilization forms in the Infant Parks under 0. 05ha. and in the Neighborhood Parks under 2ha. are specific, but the utilization forms of 3 types of parks other than these 2 doesn't differ much. 3. Each type of park (Infant, Children's or Neighborhood Park) don't have its peculiar users and users' area to each type.

    The purpose of this study is to extract the environmental meaning from the perceived similarities among places. Four experiments were performed. The experiments were to sort the color photographs into categories on the basis of some aspects of physical features. The photographs used in the experiments were the outdoor spece enclosed by buildings. Through the multidimensional scaling SINDSCAL analysis of perceived similarities, the following physical features were extacted : the disposition of the buildings, the difference of height, and the unity of facades, and so on.

    Mil der Erweiterung der inszenierten Raume in der Opernauffuhrung 1st auch bei der Buhnendekoration eine bewegliche Konstruktion denkbar geworden. Infolge dieser Tendenz und der biihnentechnischen Entwicklung durch Reform der Technik ist es jetzt Zeit, daB der Bilhnenraum selbst noch einmal grtindlich liberprtift werden soil. Diese Forschung hat es als Ziel, die systematischen Uberlegungen zur Hauptbuhnenflache darzustellen, wahrend die MaBe der Buhnendekoration bei den Opernauffilhrungen auf die Portaloffnung bezogen werden. Anhand der Forschungsmaterialien liber die in der Deutshen Oper Berlin aufgefiihrten 40 Werke (Oper : 34 Werke, Ballett : 6 Werke) in den Spielzeiten 81/82 und 82/83, habe ich zu den folgenden Punkten Analysen durchgeftihrt und Betrachtungen angestellt. (1) Einstellen der BlihnenOffnung und Portal (2) MaBe der Portaloffnung (3) Spielflache und Dekorationsflache (4) Symmetric der Breite der Buhnendekoration (5) MaBe der Buhnendekoration a) MaBe der Buhnendekorationsteile, die aus SetzstUcken, Podesten u. a. zusammengesetzt sind. b) MaBe der Buhnendekorationsteile, die aus HangestUcken, wie z. B. Prospekten, Soffitten u. a. zusammengesetzt sind. Aus diesen Betrachtungen gehen die grundsatzlichen MaBe und der Gedanke Uber die GroBe der Hauptbuhnenflache hervor.

    The study dealt with in this report is intended to establish a method of morphological analysis for an objective apprehension of regional characteristics and the direction of the pattern transition of house plan types. Firstly, we introduce a means to classify them into a limited number of patterns given by use of diagrams (arrangement-, adjacency- and linkage-pattern schemes) which enable the arrangement, adjacency and linkage of unit spaces systematically to be generated. Then, we note that some definite regional characteristics of house plan types can result from analyzing interrelations of the relevant patterns. Lastly, we present the outline of our method of examining probable directions of pattern transition, being based on regional characteristics of plan types provided by the above pattern-analytical approach. The current approach has been developed to be used in our case study of examples in Hokkaido and Tokyo of ready-built dwelling houses.

    The purposes of this paper are to clear special traits of Japanese houses where Tsuzuki-ma-zashiki(zashiki with flexible partition walls between itself and the next room) is a center, through the analyzation of how Taiwanese people live in the houses of Japanese style built in Taiwan, and to consider the differences between the two countries in life style from the viewpoint of the comparative theory of housing. The main results are as follows. In each investigated house, KYAKUCHO (a room for reception and relaxation), SANCHO (a dining room), and GASHITSU (a bedroom) are seen as main rooms. In some cases, KIKYOSHITSU (It is used as a family room, and sometimes has a library, a corner for housework, and so on. ), SHINMEICHO, and a library can be found. In the case of the life style which has the custom of sitting on a chair (sleeping on a bed), each room mostly fulfills one function. And both the number of rooms and the scale of the rooms are not enough, so a bedroom is enlarged. When how to use rooms is decided, the place of KYAKUCHO is decided first, and in principle it is necessary that the room is facing the entrance, and that the size of the room is enough to place chairs and tables. If a house fits for these conditions, the place of KYAKUCHO is easily decided. But if the room facing the entrance is small, the largest room in the house frequently becomes KYAKUCHO, regarding the size as important. However, in not a few cases, the request for the room facing the entrance is so strong that a smaller room facing the entrance is used for KYAKUCHO, or the entrance is moved to a larger room. Secondly, the main bedroom is decided, and it requires some size and privacy, because they sleep on a bed and take furnitures for living in the room. So if they have a larger room, it is used for the main bedroom with devices for privacy such as converting a fusuma into a wooden wall, and if not, they extend a room for a larger bebroom.

    The aim of this study is to make the probabilistic aspects of the fire-spread on an urban area clear by building some stochastic models and analyzing these models theoretically instead of using computer simulation. In order to understand basic mathematical properties of the stochastic fire-spread model for an urban area, one-dimensional discrete space model, in which each sub-area noted by integer i is connected with an adjunctive sub-area i+1 at the righ hand and an adjunctive sub-area i-1 at the left, is built and the fundamental formula expressing the behaviour of the probability of burning at each sub-area is obtained. Nextly, the modified model in which the parameters in the fundamental formula is spatially homogeneous and time-constant is redefined. Through mathematical consideration on this model, three propositions are obtained. These suggest some basic principles on the planning for preventing the urban fire spread.

    The purpose of this paper is to clarify the factors which affect the changes in higher educational facilities in respect to the geographical distribution of campus. This was done by tracing their actual movement over the last three decades. Particular focus was given to national universities. Four patterns of changes were observed : (1) unification of campus into one main campus, (2) unification of campus to newly developed campus, (3) addition of campus to existing campus, (4) removal of campus without unification or addition. As a resulf of this study, the following 4 factors affecting the above changes were clarified : (1) conflicts between a) a desire for higher educational facilities to maintain a close internal integration and b) campus dispersion, (2) conflicts between a desire for expansion of higher educational facilities and a rigidity of campus against growth, (3) interdependency between higher educational facilities and the surrownding community, (4) tendency for universities or colleges to physically symbolize past achievments and history. While the first and the second factors tend to promote changes of distributional pattern of campus, the third and the fourth factors tend to restrain the physical movemenf or transfer of campus. Most observable changes in the campus distribution patterns of Japanese university and college can be explained by a balance bettween these four factors.

    In a market of tenement houses, the number of houses not built of wood has increased in supply from the 1970's. Now, they are most parts of the houses newly supplied and they have different characteristics from conventional ones built of wood. In this paper, firstly, we analyze main features and their important factors in structural transformation of the supply of tenement houses in recent years, and secondly, we theorize the effect of housing management for supporting the main business. The results are as follows, 1) By the repletion of financing system and the cordial treatment of tax for tenement houses, firstly, it has become universal to borrow the funds for construction, secondly, the management scale has been expanded, and thirdly, the diversification of managers is in progress. 2) There are two mager effects of housing management. One is supporing the main business, and the other is protecting the property by enjoying the cordial treatment of tax. 3) If the standard of house rent in a market is low and managers cannot make a profit on tenement houses, they participate in the management and increase their total profits by the reduction of income tax.

    C'est a l'expression physionpmique du corps chez Le Modulor qu'on peut indiquer l'Etre a l'oeurve archltecturale de Le Corbusier. Sous cet angle, il nous faut souligner, surtout, "l'homme-le-bras-leve" chez Le Modulor. Car, l'homme-le-ras-leve n'est pas autre chose qul s'exprime en le sch6ma corporel le plus original par Le Corbusier, C'est a dire, le corps chez Le Modulor remonte soi-mgme dans le Corps fondamental qui s'unit entre ses peintures et ses oeuvres architecturaux comme on l'a etudie a l'article precedent (N° 353). Or, C'est a sa structure circulalre de l'interpretatlon de l'Etre que se manifeste le corps en l'Etre a l'espace archltectural. Sur ce polnt, il s'aglt de ce que joue l'ldee de couleur dans la totalite de l'oeuvre de Le Corbusler. A savolr, la couleur de Le Corbusier unlfie le double sens en l'expression, d'un cote, separee de la forme, comme le purlsme l'a enselgne, de l'autre c6t6. s'appuyee par l'espace plastlque la. Bref, cette couleur, s'etant fondee sur "le blanc eclatant" qui lul donne son espace prlmordlal, au fond, s'est constatee la en l'actlon spatlale de la sensatlon corporelle. La couleur du Purlsme est constitute par la theorie physlologlque en Psychophysique. Celle de Young Helmholtz occupe la plus centrale positlon et l'y explique comme sensation de la constitution du corps. De la, l'espace architectural de Le Corbusier exprime son corps sensorlel en l'Age Moderne. Le corps chez Le Modulor s'y decouvre celui de sensation a cette idee du Purisme, s'exprimant comme l'expression physionomique dans la sensation indiquee par la couleur vive. Or, il nous faut remarquer le "corps" dit par M. Merleau-Ponty pour mettre en question en ce qui concern "le corps et l'esprlt". Car, on peut dire ici que l'OEuvre Archltecturale de Le Corbusier devance admlrablement la pensee du corps par la phenomenologie du 20 eme siecle. Le corps de l'oeuvre de Le Corbusier pourralt done se relire dans celul de la phenomenologie du 20 eme siecle. M. Merleau Ponty ecrit dans "Resumes de Cours" (College de France, 1952-1960) que l'expression proprement dlte, telle que l'obtient le langage, reprend et amplifle une autre expression qui se devolle a l'"archeologie" du mond percu et que c'est "sur l'objet" (J. Paliard) et finalement dans la presence totale du monde que se falt la synthese perceptive, c'est dans, c'est par l' "implication" que la lumiere naturelle de la perception s'ouvre un chemin. D'ailleurs, "L'architecture, la sculpture et la peinture sont specifiquement dependantes de l'espace, attachees a la necessite de gerer l'espace, chacune par des moyens appropries. Ce qui sera dit ici d'essentiel, c'est que la clef de l'emotlon esth6tique est une fonctlon spatiale." dit Le Corbusler dans son ecrit "Le Modulor". ll en arrive a la conclusion qu'une profondeur sans bornes s'ouvre, efface les murs, chasse les presences contlngentes, accomplit le miracle de l'Espace lndicible. C'est dans cette ligne de la pensee phenom6nologlque par M. Merleau-Ponty qu'on peut trouver l'Etre qui, d'apres son mot, est un entrelacs de vislon et de mouvement. C'est a dire, le Corps de l'oeuvre de Le Corbusier est a l'etre qul traverse l'antinomie classique en realisme et scepticisme comme la pensee phenomenologique l'lndique. Or, d'apres notre etude (N° 367), il serait posslble qu'on lit l'ecart entre le Corps Grecque et Celui Gothique.
