    The purpose of this study is to clarify the evaluation of tourism landscape in Hiroshima by subjects of Chinese tourists, and to obtain the fundamental data of tourism planning in future for increasing of Chinese tourists to Japan. We carried out the psychological experiment about 40 tourism landscape images by subjects of Chinese foreign students, Japanese students of Hiroshima University and Chinese students of Dalian University of Technology and Dalian Nationalities University. Evaluation tendency and structure of each subject group were clarified based on the relationships of the psychological evaluation of each landscape image.

    It is important for planning an effect of direct solar gain to calculate the effect of surrounding environment, especially buildings around a numerical model. Therefore in this study, simulation of heating load with a boundary condition based GIS data was conducted. The result showed that solar heat gain was larger than heat loss from a window where Rss was larger than 0.4. The detail simulation were carried out for the building where Rss was larger than 0.4, and results revealed the relationship of glass size and heating load and interior design.

    The number of house with thick insulation and air tightness is increasing in cold climate region to decrease heating energy and to save daily life cost. Decreasing fresh air load is important to save heating energy in such houses. The purpose of this study is to develop pre-heating system by using solar air heat collector with thermal storage system. First, we examined the performance of the solar air heat collector and thermal storage system. Second, we made the numerical model. Third, we analyzed the possibility and the application of the system by using the numerical model.

    Cross ventilation in interior spaces is a commonly adopted means of providing natural ventilation in Japan during moderate seasons, including summer. Cross ventilation is occurred by interaction that caused by the airflow in interior and exterior rooms and the pressure distribution of the building walls. The airflow distribution varied depending on the outside wind direction and velocity. Moreover, the outside wind turbulence affects cross ventilation, for example, in the case of two wall openings symmetrical to the wind direction. Cross ventilation is a unsteady-state phenomenon, and in order to understand it better, the wind flow and velocity have to be quantified. This study describes the airflow distribution in a simple cross-ventilated house model by using PIV and a large-size boundary wind tunnel. In this paper, the location of the openings and the wind direction are the experimental variables. The wind speed ratio and turbulent kinetic energy distribution by wind velocity vector of 2 dimensions and 2 components in and around the model are reported. In Case B (two openings placed on opposite walls parallel to wind direction), Case C (two openings placed on windward wall) and Case D (two openings placed on leeward wall), where there is no pressure difference of the building walls as a function of time, it is clarified that airflow moves into and out of the model through the openings in turn due to the outside wind turbulence.

    Because the current air-conditioning load calculation method does not consider the resident's thermal sensation directly, the relationship between the resident's thermal sensation and the load is not clear at the stage of air conditioning system design. To solve this problem, we have shown a new calculation method which can calculate the load by considering the resident's thermal sensation. So far, we have investigated only the sensible heat load calculation model on this new calculation method, but in this paper, we showed a latent heat load calculation model, and obtained the following results. 1) If the air-conditioning load computed by the current method is processed at the optimum point, indoor temperature and humidity are controlled to their set points, but resident's thermal sensation may not be maintained at comfortable range. However, if the load computed by this new method is removed completely, even if indoor temperature and humidity changes, resident's thermal sensation will be maintained at comfortable range. 2) After maintaining demanded thermal sensation, the rate of sensible heat load and latent heat load can be changed as necessary, and the load reduction effect can also be expected.

    The use of renewable energy,such as from photovoltaic (PV)systems,is expected to provide an effective means for reducing the dependence of households on commercial electricity supply. However, because of mismatch of the power supply and consumption of electricity, surplus electricity generated by PV systems is fed into the commercial power grid. With the increasingly widespread adoption of PV systems, this approach may introduceinstability to the grid in the near future. In this context, using batteries to store surplus electricity may be effective for reducing the amount of surplus electricity flowing into the commercial power grid.In this study, we evaluated the load leveling effect of using electric vehicle batteries as a storage system for surplus electric power generated by PV systems installed on single-family houses in cities in Japan.

    The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the quantitative energy conservation effects of the new Japanese energy saving standard by using city-scale energy end-use simulation model developed by the authors. This standard evaluates the energy consumption of a residential building by adopting various kinds of energy saving technologies, such as heat pump water heater, cogeneration system, photovoltaic power generation system, and high-efficiency air conditioners. Therefore, many options are available to achieve this standard, and it is difficult to evaluate the city-scale energy saving effects by the standard. First, combinations of technologies that achieve the 2013 standard are examined. Next, our simulation model estimates the city-scale impact of the 2013 standard on residential energy consumption in Osaka Prefecture. The change of the electricity load curve by implementing the standard is also discussed.

    Community-level decentralized and self-reliant energy network is expected to contribute to create a sustainable community as well as its self-vitalization and energy resiliency. But implementation of this system requires consensus among variety of stakeholders and long payback period, which are major hurdles. This study proposes the following concept and methods; (1) PPP business scheme consisting of two types of actors; "community-level energy network infrastructure operating company" and "on-site energy production and service providers" (2) Proper re-allocation of cost and co-benefits among stakeholders by taking advantage of opportunities of adjusting tariffs, taxes, subsidies for the purpose of equalizing each stakeholder's B/C.

    This study proposes a statistical method for estimating household CO2 emission intensity by each municipality in Japan. First, housing energy selection patterns in major cities were analyzed using path analysis method. Second, results of the above analysis were utilized to create statistical models of energy selection pattern for various energy types. Finally, the simulation was enlarged using spatial statistics, thus allowing estimation of CO2 emission intensity by region. Results of this study enabled calculation both of CO2 emission intensity in each region as well as variability rate between 2000 and 2010.

    The purpose of this research is to find alternative options to replace landfill disposal and thermal disposal which doesn't make efficient use of exhaust heat. We measured the weight of all the construction by-products and researched the occurrence time of construction by-products at seven construction sites. Based on the result of the investigation, we devised methods to predict the weight and timing of construction by-products. We devised a plan of allocation of trucks to complete the most efficient collection and transportation of construction by-products.
