Process control for the extrusion moulding of cementitious components is more difficult than that of castmoulding because the rheological factors for the moulding are more complicated. This paper deals with adevelopment of total process control systems including material and machinery technologies. Firstly, the process control flow of one way was proposed. Secondly, the equations which show the laws at each step of flow werechecked based on experimental data with various materials, mix proportions, die opening geometries and barreldiameters. According to the good coordination between calculated values and experimental ones, the randomaccessible total system was developed.

Experiments were carried out on high-strength concrete specimens subjected to temperature rise due to heat of hydration in structure in order to discuss the prediction models for their early-stage mechanical properties, i.e., compressive strength and Young's modulus. The concrete maturity is estimated by the equivalent age specified in CEB-FIP Model Code 1990. The developments of mechanical properties can be fairly expressed by the present model curves, regardless of the temperature histories, derived from adding a parameter for final setting time to the equations specified in the Code. Influences of water to cement ratio and type of cement on the model and reduction of the development in structure to the standard specimen cured in water at 20℃ are also discussed.

In the present paper, it is tried to evaluate quantitatively the theological constants of fresh concrete based on the shear box test. In this study, the effects of the thickness of shear layer, the volume fraction of aggregate and the shape of aggregate particle on the Theological constants of high-fluidity concrete with the water cement ratio of 45% under low shear rate smaller than 1(1/s) are investigated quantitatively. Moreover the effects of the volume fraction of aggregate and the shape of aggregate particle on the slump-flow value and the slump-flowing time are discussed quantitatively.

Three types of high-strength and high-fluidity concrete and two types of lightweight high-strength and high-fluidity concrete with an artificial aggregate were prepared under a wide variety of placement conditions such as interval, ambient temperature, rodding and curing. Flexural strength and accelerated carbonation test were then performed with prism specimens having a placing-joint in each of them. Effects of causes of the cold joint on the flexural strength and carbonation depth of the placing-joints were discussed. Next, the limitations of placing interval was also investigated in terms of the multiple regression analysis and a limitations of placing interval for high-strength and high-fluidity concrete was proposed.

Through sensory tests of people's perception of stains on paint and physical measurements of color on paint, several relationships between people's perception of stains and the color of materials were found from the viewpoint of people's perception whether they were acceptable or not. Because people's perception of acceptability had a good relationship with the difference in color between stained and unstained materials, people's perception can be indicated physically with a multiple regression equation which uses both muncell value(blightness) and chroma. In this study, absolute analysis data considering several levels of stain were obtained.

Sometimes people are injured in accidental collisions against corners or projections of building elements. The purpose of this study is to present an evaluation method of such non-plane surface of building elements from a viewpoint of safety. In this report, we newly designed and manufactured an apparatus for measuring safety of corners and projections and measured impact stress distribution of experimental samples. As a result, we confirmed fundamental validity of the measuring condition and the basic physical quantity, and we showed possibility of expressing the order of safety using this apparatus.

The purpose of this study is to establish the evaluation method of safety of building elements and members from the viewpoint of slipperiness with hands that is important to ensure the safety of persons especially for aged and physically handicapped persons. In this paper, we presents the measurement method of slipperiness of handrails and grab bars, as a first step of this study. First, we carried out sensory tests, and human sense of slipperiness of handrails and grab bars were scaled under various conditions. Next, we developed the slip meter of handrails and grab bars, that could measure the slip resistance of handrails and grab bars, corresponded to sensory scales. As a result, we presented the measurement method of slipperiness of handrails and grab bars.

Recent structural design is shifting to performance-based design. Structural designers discuss about target performance with clients to decide it within social consensus and they have to understand resident's consciousness and their demand well enough. In this paper, safety consciousness on house and its required level are evaluated by some questionnaires to residents. As a result, safety consciousness is effected by assessment of the present safety and the priority of economy. In the case of required level, a return period of great earthquake is effected by the priority of economy, and probability of failure is effected by assessment of the present safety. In conclusion, education based on communication with designers is necessary for clients to have understanding of target performance and recognition on their own responsibility.

Using the numerical simulation of the turbulent boundary layer over rough surfaces with a refined k- e turbulence model presented previous paper, a series of calculations were done on the characterized model cities. The change of the mean wind speed and the turbulence intensity due to the configuration of surface roughness was investigated. The variation of the thickness of the boundary layer, the profile of the mean wind speed and the intensity of turbulence against the density of surface roughness, i.e. buildings and houses, was obtained for the wind resistant design.

Dynamic damaging potential of ground motions must be evaluated by response behavior of structures, and it is necessary to indicate what properties of ground motions are most appropriate for evaluation. For that purpose, behavior of energy input process and hysteretic energy dissipation is investigated in this study. Momentary input energy of ground motions are corresponded to displacement of structures, and it is found that damaging properties can be evaluated almost appropriately by momentary energy response and response type of hysteretic loop. Based on these results, a procedure to estimate inelastic response displacement of structures by elastic momentary input energy spectra of ground motions is proposed, and almost suitable values can be estimated.

This paper describes the vibration characteristics of bending-shear type uniform frames to having of inhomogeneity for damping quantity along the heights. It is installed viscous damper in arbitrary story so that the analytical structure has inhomogeneity for damping quantity. Based on the strain energy theory, two methods are carried out to evaluate the equivalent modal damping factors. One method is using classical normal modes, the other is using complex modes. It is analytically explained that the equivalent modal damping factors for these structures could be accurately calculated by using classical normal modes, at the installed damper coefficient less than 15% concerning the first mode. Through the seismic response studies, the energy absorbing is divided into each mode. It is discussed the relationship between equivalent modal damping factors and the effectiveness of the overall responses reductions.

The dynamic behavior of one-bay five-story steel frames under strong ground motions is predicted by the beam-column FEM using the incremental perturbation method. In this numerical study, the acceleration data recorded at El Centra, Taft and JMA Kobe are adopted for the input ground motions. The behavior of the frame subjected to only horizontal ground motion is analyzed, and the behavior due to horizontal and vertical motions is also analyzed. It is found that the vertical ground motion has little effect on the horizontal displacements of all stories. However the strain responses at the ends and the middle of each beam are significantly affected by the vertical ground motion.

In previous studies, growth phenomena of bow-shaped deflection mode in multistory multibay weak-beam-type planar frames has been predicted by symmetry limit theory and equilibrium path bifurcation theory. To verify the validity of the theoretical prediction of the bow-shaped mode appearance, static and dynamic loading tests on the 3-story 1-span miniature model frame of weak-beam-type have been carried out. In the present article, Part I, the results of static loading tests are shown. The theoretical prediction method for the bow-shaped mode appearance is verified and the characteristics of the collapse behavior of the frame under repeated loading is clarified. In Part II, the results of dynamic loading tests will be shown. The gradually drifting phenomena of the sway-mode vibration center will be shown in the frame under the condition that the growth of the bow-shaped mode can be suppressed.

As a generalization of the in-plane limit theory for cantilever beam-columns subjected to cyclic bending, a finite element analysis method is proposed. Analyses are performed for beam-columns of square cross-section using the incremental perturbation method. In-plane limits of tip deflection amplitude are parametrically calculated for axial force ratios by the application of the in-plane limit theory. Accuracy of those limits is verified by hysteretic response analyses for the beam-columns. Out-of-plane deformation is exponentially increased under an amplitude in excess of the in-plane limit.

Results of cyclic horizontal load test of two PHC piles connected with a foundation slab under axial load change are discussed. One is a standard pile but the other, so-called earthquake resistant pile, has a new developed joint without welding at pile head. This idea is based on the experience of the Miyagiken-oki earthquake (1978) that the pile with joint accidentally at pile head because of overdriving was not damaged, while the other piles showed shear failure. As test results, horizontal force was concentrated to and resulted in shear failure of the standard pile because the joint shows high ductility.

Passive earth pressure tests of a wall were performed in terms of three variations in displacement: when the wall rotates about its bottom, and when the wall rotates about its top, and the wall is translated. The followings are the results obtained through the test. (1) The passive earth pressure is not found to be in agreement with those obtained Coulomb and Terzaghi theories in either method of displacement (2) The moving wall friction angle δ_c, when the total horizontal earth pressure is at its maximum, is lower than the friction angle between sand and wall in either mothod of dieplacement.

This paper provides the natural circular frequencies and eigen modes of partial cylindrical shells with specific boundary conditions by exact solution first, and proposes in the next step the approximate solution. Exact natural frequencies and eigen modes are required as the reference standard to examine the accuracy of conventional numerical methods. By the approximate solution presented here the eigen values and modes are calculated quite easily with sufficient accuracy compared to exact results, and the expression of the modes is quite useful to the response analysis with modal superposition method.

The paper presents the results of elasto-plastic analyses and failure experiments of free formed shells. The shapes of free- formed shells were obtained by numerical form finding process. The five models, with different loading modes and different rises, and three models with different tie beam stiffness were tested. And the results of them were compared with analytical results. The shell response was obtained by material and geometrically nonlinear analysis. These analytical results show the good agreement with the test results. And these results indicate that the stiffness and load carrying capacity of the free-formed reinforced concrete shells are considerably affected by the loading mode , difference of rises and support conditions.

This study is concerned with the behaviors of boundary connection between existing R/C member and added strengthening member which have various reinforcement method. Most of connections were retrofitted by the spiral bar all this while, but it was difficult to arrange it to the proper pitch when there were many other reinforcements in the connection. Thus, in this study, four reinforcement types of connection(no reinforcement, spiral bar, ladder bar, mesh bar) were tested, and the effect of the difference of reinforcement were examined by the static shear loading test. It was recognized that the difference of reinforcement have an little effect on the load carrying capacity of retrofitted shear walls, but four reinforcement types showed obvious difference about the improvement of ductility. It was found that mesh and ladder bar types were superior to no reinforcement and spiral bar types for the improvement of ductility of concrete walls.

In order to evaluate the safety of the buildings the structures of which was repaired, it is very important to estimate the performance of the weld structural parts. This study is based on the experiment; after giving weld repair to the distorted SM490A steel member with weld joint in the condition which is like the actual weld work, we examined the mechanical behavior and property. The study led to the following results. 1)In the cold condition, the toughness doesn't change after giving weld repair to the broken steel member with weld joint. 2)The weld repaired steel member has the lower tensile strength than the original member. 3)The steel member with more load than elasticity has the higher tensile and yield strength and the less deformation. 4)The weld repaired section has father improved on mechanical behavior in the cold condition than the pre-loaded member.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate elastic plastic behaviour of a CHS column-to-beam connection without diaphragms in which the thickness of column at the connection is increased. In addition to vertical and horizontal loading tests, numerical calculations by the elastic plastic finite element method are performed to obtain experimental formulae for estimating the local strength of the connections. The results show that it is capable to restrain local flexural deformation of the heavy column wall without diaphragms and that the experimental formulae predict the local strengths of these connections with a high accuracy.

The relationship between delayed fracture of high-strength bolt and diffusible hydrogen contents as well as microstructure of bolt metal are investigated in this theses. For this purpose, the specimens were choused among both of the bolts which showed and not showed delayed fracture by accelerated test reported in former paper as Part 1. Tests have done due to both of Gas chromatography and so called Glycerin displacement method after hydrogen was charged to both of loaded and unloaded bolts in sulfuric acid solution. It was observed that, diffusible hydrogen contents were mainly depend upon bolt material and never upon the fractured or not fractured bolt by accelerated test. The diffusible hydrogen concentration is not always useful to estimate the sensibility of the high-strength bolt to delayed fracture. On the other hand, the interdependence between the sensibility of bolt to delayed fracture and microstructure, could not find out any factor.

Maximum strength and plastic rotation capacity of square hollow section members made of SN-steel subjected to axial compression and bending are investigated. Square hollow sections include a)fabricated by welding four plates and b)hot finished. The equivalent width-to-thickness ratio of compression side flange of square hollow section members under combined compression and bending are assessed using experimental results. The prediction formulae on maximum strength and plastic rotation capacity are derived by combining the theoretical moment-rotation relationship and the maximum buckling strength of compression side flange defined by the equivalent width-to-thickness ratio. The prediction thus obtained are compared with experimental results to show the satisfactory correlation. The width-to-thickness ratio limitations according to ductility demand levels are suggested.

To clarify stress transfer from the inner panel to the outer panel, six through beam type beam-column subassemblages for RCS system were tested. From the test results, it was shown that the stress developed at the inner panel can be transferred to the outer panel by torsion between the inner panel and the outer panel and the torsional strength increases with the transverse reinforcement ratio. Based on the arch and the truss mechanism, the resistance mechanism of the outer panel was proposed. From these mechanisms, a method capable of estimating the ultimate strength of the joint was proposed. The predictions were shown to be in good agreement with the test results.

This study is intended for obtaining knowledge about the influence exerted by the existence of each component upon the strength and deformation capacity of RCS (reinforced concrete plus steel) joint. The test results demonstrated the following: (1) the shear force borne by the cover plate and FBP is small, (2) the orthogonal component limits the concrete deflection at joint, (3) greater thickness of cover plate improves the hysteretic characteristics, and (4) good hysteretic characteristics can be achieved by limiting the average shear input to the joint.

This paper presents the model to estimate heat release of wood (Douglas fir) in fire compartment, considering char formation and moisture content, with equivalence ratio φ on the basis of previous work and discusses about the combustion efficiency. As the result, calculated heat release of Douglas fir shows relatively good relation to the empirical value of previous work. On the assumption of this paper, heat release per gram of oxygen in air consumed decreases, as φ increases. The combustion efficiency shows relatively good relation to the previous work.
