    This paper reports on the investigation into the influence of age and cure on fracture properties of concrete subjected to the effect of high temperature heating up to 800°C. Wedge splitting tests were conducted to measure the load versus crack mouth opening displacement curves. The initial cohesive stress and fracture energy were estimated by the inverse analysis of tension softening diagram calculated by the load versus crack mouth opening displacement curves. As a result, the effect of age and cure on the fracture properties of concrete subjected to high temperature heating was discussed.

    This paper investigates influence of pressure line on quality variation of concrete before and after pumping by literature survey. And the validity of its tendency is verified by long pressure line pumping experiments.
    As a result, quality vaviation of concrete after pumping shows following tendencies.
    1. Slump and slump flow shows a tendency to decrease. The amount of the decrease shows a tendency to increase when length of pressure line is longer. The tendency of concrete with superplasticiser is bigger than concrete with AE water reducing agent.
    2. Air content shows a tendency to increase. However, length of pressure line don't a little influence for variation of air content.
    3. Compressive strength shows a tendency to almost equal, regardless of length of pressure line.

    It is important to develop an information traceability system on the process of concrete production. One method is to record the identification number or the information about the concrete production with wireless IC tag, and to embed it in the fresh concrete. This method has a characteristic to keep the information inside the concrete itself. On the other hand, this method requires communication performance between IC tag inside the concrete and the reader/writer outside the concrete.
     This paper describes a study on the performance of communication between several types of IC tags embedded in the concrete specimens and the reader/writer outside the concrete specimens. In addition, the influence of directivity of IC-tags to communicate with the reader/writer was examined. The calculation method of required number of IC-tags embedded in the concrete was proposed.

    Spray-applied asbestos are prohibited on buildings use, because of risks on asbestos fiber release. Meanwhile, knowledge about asbestos fiber release from other asbestos containing materials is insufficient at present, despite of those may cause asbestos fiber release by deterioration.
    In this research, airborne fibrous particles concentration was measured at indoor which use asbestos containing materials, and degree of deterioration of those materials was verified. As a result, asbestos fibers were not detected indoors, and no deterioration on all indoor asbestos containing materials but some thermal insulating materials on pipes was verified.

    This paper shows a new method of the double integral with Wavelet Transformation to compute the response displacement of the building from the measured acceleration. This method provides the performance curve of the building that suffered an earthquake and enables us to judge the damage of the building quickly after the earthquake. We discussed the usefulness of this new method through the past experimental data of the shaking table test of R/C columns in this paper.

    In this study, we aim to propose tuned mass dampers with initial displacement that are possible to control impulsive seismic responses effectively for architectural structures. In advance of the study on control of seismic responses, we aim to propose design formulas to control the structural responses subjected to impulse forces. In our previous study, we have proposed the design formulas using the optimal tuning and damping ratios for harmonic ground vibration. But to improve control effect on overall time history responses is difficult, because these formulas are based on the principle of the beating phenomenon. Then, in this paper, we focus on the vibration property when the damping ratio of the tuned mass damper is larger than that of our previous study and propose new design formulas with high control effect on impulse forces. Moreover, we propose design formulas considering the damping of the structure.

    In this study, we conducted microtremor array exploration at a site with inclined bedrock to deduce S-wave velocity in shallow soil. The S-wave velocity of the 1st layer and the depth to engineering bedrock evaluated from microtremor array exploration are consistent with the results of measurement-while-drilling, surface wave exploration method and H/V spectra of microtremors. In order to estimate the effect of bedrock inclination on the phase velocity, 2D model was constructed from aligning the 1D profiles. The difference between the phase velocities from FEM analysis with the 1D and 2D models can be recognized in the long period range.

    Timoshenko(1959) set up the two supported conditions by the 1st ; the simple support along edges, and the 2nd ; the fixed support along edges, and suggested the calculation formulas through the concentrated load on a deflection in the center of rectangular flat slabs. This method, however, was only a solution of the specific slenderness ratio, and the support conditions were not restraint along edge of the actual slabs, but using his calculation formulas, it was insufficient. The objective of this study is to frame calculation formulas of a deflection in the center of rectangular flat slabs of arbitrary slenderness ratios when the concentrated load is made up in the center of rectangular flat slabs. The author calculated such support conditions as the following, the 1st ; the simply support along edges, the 2nd ; the fixed support along edges, the 3rd ; the simple support along two adjoining and the other edges built-in edges, the 4th ; the semi-fixation.

    Semi-rigid pile head connection method can reduce a bending moment at pile head and foundation beams induced by seismic load compared to that with rigid pile head connection. Various types of the semi-rigid pile head connection method have been developed and used in practical application of building in Japan. Each different estimation equations of pile head rigidities are employed in each developed methods evaluating from the static structural experimental data in spite of the similar connection conditions. This paper describes the static cyclic lateral loading tests of the simplified pile head connection methods. Based on the test results, the estimation equations of pile head rigidity are proposed. And it is compared to the previous estimation methods.

    Drying characteristics, mechanical performances and curvature of square lumber without pith sawn from sugi large diameter logs grown in northern Miyazaki were investigated for each condition with difference sawing methods, moisture conditions and loading direction. Then, their possibilities of application as structural members were examined. The major results are as follows. Curvature after sawing and drying of B logs is extremely low. Drying schedule of specimen is effective for lumber with less than 100% moisture content before drying. By using center rule sawing lumber, mechanical performances become practically sufficient for short term conditions except for compression perpendicular to the grain.

    Time history response analysis using 3D space frame model and earthquake wave determined by soil condition was carried out for reproduction of the two wooden houses ( house A, B ) damaged by Noto Hanto Earthquake in 2007. The story drift of the analysis result of house A was larger than the investigation result. The story drift of the analysis result of house B at JMA Wajima input was agreed well with the investigation result. The overall deformation of analysis model and the position of breaking of the columns after seismic input also agreed well with investigation result. It was found that the analysis model using in this report could estimate the earthquake damage of wooden house with more precision than the seismic diagnosis.

    In the field of RC structures, there are many structural systems that damping members are united with a main structure which consists of columns and beams. However, when damping members are damaged, failures are more likely to extend to a main structure, because a main structure and damping members are not separated. In this study, a structural system, which is separated a main structure and damping members, is proposed to realize a damage-controlled RC structure. As a damping member, the buckling-restrained brace, which has excellent seismic energy absorption capability, is used. Since the buckling-restrained brace is easy to adjust axial stiffness and strength, it is possible to design the RC structure with the required structure performance. In this paper, feasibility of the proposed damage-controlled RC structure is verified by the confirmatory experiment.

    An existing school building constructed in 1963 was tested statically under horizontal force. The test specimen was three-story RC building retrofitted by concrete-filled steel tubular (CFT) braces which were only acting under compression. The effect this retrofitting method on the existing building was investigated from viewpoints of strength, stiffness and deformation capacity. The yield and maximum strengths were also investigated and compared the calculations based on the “Standards for Seismic Capacity Evaluation of Existing Reinforce Concrete Buildings” (JBDPA 1977). The retrofitting design of the method was clarified by comparisons between test and calculations.

    From the economical point of view, tapered H-shaped beams have been designed in steel frame structures. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the elastic local buckling strength of H-shaped beam with web depth tapered under shear bending. Theoretical analysis with energy method is conducted by separating H-shaped beam into two plate elements, web and flange. As prerequisite for the buckling analysis, stress distribution of each plate element is supposed in consideration of geometrical characteristic of tapered form. The validity of the supposed stress distribution is confirmed from the static loading test. From the analysis, the effect of the tapered form to buckling behavior is inspected and the approximation for buckling strength is derived for each plate element. In addition, coupled buckling behavior of two plate elements is also investigated with finite element method.

    In the steel frames, the column base is allowed to yield after beam yielding subjected to large earthquake in Japanese design codes such as &ldauo;The Building Standard Low of Japan” by Building Center of Japan. If the frames have unexpected seismic horizontal force, the soft story mechanism may occur. To prevent the plastic collapse of the column on 1st story, our previous paper suggested the new column support system on 1st story, which consist of the reinforced concrete downside column and the steel topside column. In this paper, the virtual work method is applied to estimate the damage distribution and the collapse deformation capacity of the steel moment resisting frames with these support systems, and the shear and axial demands the column joints on 1st story are clarified.

    The compression tests at cool-down temperature of steel stub-columns were performed and the experimental data on elastic-plastic behavior with local buckling was obtained. Since the effect of work-hardening process to cold-rolled steel columns is removed due to heating, the compression behavior of cold-rolled steel columns after heating is similar to those of hot-rolled columns. Therefore the effect of the heating on the work-hardening process of cold-rolled columns is considered based on the relation between plastic-strain ratio and generalized width-to-thickness ratio at cool-down temperature. The behavior of tests at cool-down temperature was simulated by finite element method. And the results of the calculations clearly showed that numerical analysis can be used to provide accurate predictions of the local buckling characteristics of stub-columns at cool-down temperature.

    To clarify stress transfer from the inner panel with steel flange width to the outer panel outside steel flange, five corner steel beam - reinforced concrete column subassemblages and five exterior steel beam - reinforced concrete column subassemblages were tested. From the test results, it was shown that stress transfer from the inner panel to the outer panel was mostly developed by torsion between the inner panel and the outer panel. On the basis of these results, evaluation method of ultimate strength was proposed. The predictions were shown to be in good agreement with the test results.

    In the previous report, we propose a backing material with the addition of CaF2 and Fe2O3 in cordierite. In this report, with a range of 1.5 to 2.0%, in the range of 5.0 to 5.6%, the added amount of CaF2 and Fe2O3 were performed for each experiment. In addition, the heat input, reinforcing bar diameter, steel grade also were surveyed. As a result, by a range of 1.8 to 5.5% of CaF2, the addition of a range of 1.8 to 5.6% and Fe2O3, the following conditions, we found that can be used. 1) Standard heat input is in the range of 2068-4567J/mm2. 2) Reinforcing bar diameter in the range of D32-D41.

    Among the various offshore structures which are needed for the development of resources in ice covered seas, columnar structures were selected for the study on the oscillating phenomenon caused by ice floe and the dynamic response caused by earthquake. This research was performed by the model test and numerical analysis. It is aimed to propose the ice load evaluation method for the design of ice resistant structures by considering the dynamic interaction between structure and ice floe. The suitability of using the urea model ice, ratcheting phenomenon, maximum ice load and dynamic behavior of structure are presented in this paper.
