    It is well known that the failure of mortar or concrete is the statistical phenomina since "weak points" are distributed at random in a specimen, and that, therfore, there is a need of introduction of the statistical methods for the analysis of the failure. The objects of this papers are to propose a statistical model to analyze mortar or concrete strength from the standpoint of a statistical aspect. In this papers, we have introduced an idea of transition rate λ_i(t) which a specimen in a state at time t changes to the next one so that we might discuss the failure problems in term of stochastic theory. The characteristic distribution of the failure time under sustained load and periodic load, and the size effect, the dispersion and the effect of loading rate in the static strength have been analyzed, based on this statistical model. The results were that this statistical model is possible to represent the experimental facts in the creep life, the fatigue life and the static strength of mortar or concrete.

    With the latest development of Prefabricated Concrete Constructions, some reports are appeared which discribe the use of bonding strength of inserted steel bar to connect the concrete members. We are mentioned to aply the expanding admixture to the grouting mortar for incresing the bonding power of this connection method. Generally the expanding admixture DENKA CSA, is trending toward the decrease of bonding strength. But if we turn the expansive force to inside by binding of the expansion, the bonding strength and the concrete strength will be in increase in consequence of concrete becoming close. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate these effects of DENKA CSA. Formally we used DENKA CSA 10% of Portland cement for protects the shrinkage of the concrete, but in this experiment we take mix-ratio amount to 30%. The specimens are combination of various length steel-pipe and inserted bar with the grouting mortar. In consequence, the effect of this connection is efficient to DENKA CSA of 30% and the inserted length of 30 times of steel rod diameter.

    Many experimental reports on the influence of notch and its dimensions upon the strength and stiffness of wooden beam have been reported in the world. By refering to these test results, the following equations (1) and (2) calculating the extreme fiber stress in bending (σ) are provided for notched beam in "A.I.J. Structural Standards". For a beam having a notch on its compression side at or near the cross section subjected to maximum bending moment (M_max) : σ=M_max/Z_n…(1) in which Z_n is a net value of section modulus at the notched cross section. For the beam having a notch on its tension side at or near the cross section subjected to maximum bending moment (M_max) : σ=M_max/0.6Z_n…(2) in which Z_n is a net value of section modulus at the notched cross section whose notching shoould be less than one-third the depth of the cross section without notch. The first aim of our experimental project was checking whether equation (2) is applicable or not for the notched cross section where notching is more than one-third the depth of the portion without notch. The second aim was the examination of applicability of equations (1) and (2) for the laminated wooden beam in which the bottom of notch is just coincident the glue line between laminae. The tests were made on the ordinary and the laminated wooden beams. The cross section was 6cm(width)×12cm(depth) and a notch was cut on the compression or the tension sides. And the ratio of the notched depth to the non-notched depth was diveded into three kinds : 1/2, 1/3 and 1/6.

    The use of high strength reinforcement in reinforced concrete members is partly limited by the crack width which can be allowod without danger of corrosion of the reinfocement. In this paper, the stress distributions in the portion of reinforced concrete beams located between two main flexural cracks are analyzed by the finite element method. These stress distributions have been calculated approximately by assuming that the concrete behaves as an elastic material and the reinforcing bar as an reinforcing bar as an elastic spring. In addition to the above assumptions, the mechanical model of bond between the concrete and the reinforcing bar is introduced in the anaritical calculation. On the basis of numerical solution, the method for the calculation of the maximum crack spacing and the maximum crack width is described. The calculated crack spacing and crack width are compared with the experimental results.

    A modified "truss-analogy" is presented for the analysis on the shear failure of reinforced concrete beams subjected to considtrated loads. In addition to the well-known facters such as concrete strength, web reinforcement and shear span ratio, the bond characteristics between longitudinal reinforcement and concrete are taken into considteration for the analysis of mechanism of shear failure. The results of analysis show that the ultimate strength and failing modes of reinforced concrete members should be remarkably affected by the bond characteristics. The fundamental equations on the ultimate shear strength of beams and columns derived from the above-mentioned analysis are very similar to the widely-accepted empirical formula which was proposed by K. Ohno and T. Arakawa in 1960. This fact should suggest that both the new equations and Ohno-Arakawa's equation are valid in general. The test results of simple beams and continuous beams presented by many researchers were analysed by the proposed method the predicted values of shear strength and the failing modes show good correspondence to the test data.

    This paper deal with results of the finite element analysis of reinforced concrte beams. The assumptions and analytical procedures of the analysis were reported in the previous paper (1). The beams analized here were tested with emphasis on strain measurements. The experimental results were reported in the previous parer (2), too. Several investigations are done by comparing analytical results with experimentalresults. Regarding deflections, strain of concrete and reinforcing bars, and crackings, the analytical and experimental results almost coincide up to 85% of experimental maximum load. As a result, it is found that the assumptions and procedures of the analysis are almost appropriate. Influences of the behaviours of bond between main reinforcing bars and concrete to the deflections, strain distribution and crackings of the beams are examined, furthermore, by changing the input data of bond.     In resent years, vibration tests of building structures using eccentric mass vibration generators became increasingly important because the design of building structures, such as tall buildings or special buildings, require the high level of vibrational analysis. However, the software, which is the technique of data analysis in vibration tests has made less progress compared with the hardwar, which is the improvement of vibration generators. The purpose of this paper is two fold. 1) To establish a method of automatically correcting amplitudes that include the vibrational characteristics of vibrographs. (See Eqs. (1) to (4)) 2) To find a method of adapting these correcting data to resonance curves using the theory of one-degree system. (See Eqs. (28) to (30)) This method is applied to some example data gathered in actual vibration tests. By this method, three parameters (natural frequency, damping coefficient and equivalent mass) can be automatically obtained and vibrational test data can be consequently regressed to the resonance curve in accordance with one-degree system. Application of this method to the case of higher modes, however, will require additional consideration of modal interferences with each other.

    In this paper, we study on the theoretical analysis for practical application of the basic one which was already reported in the part (I). First of all, we reduce some calculating methods for the output water temperature of the thermal storage tank, using the following response coefficient of water temperature ε. [numerical formula] These methods are (1) an accurate method by an electronic computer, (2) a method by a close approximate equation and (3) a method by calculating charts formed on diverse thermal load patterns. Secondly, we produce the analysis for frequency response as a useful method in case that load input is expressd by frequency functions. And last, we produce a calculating method for thermal response, and Investigate the influence of heat gain and loss of the thermal storage tank on indicial response and frequency response. Thus it is proved that insulation covering the thermal storage tank set underground is useless except upward side.

    This paper deals with the vicissitudes of the Samurai Edo Residence in the early modern era by Hosokawa Archives. The contents are as follows. 1. Tatsunoguchi main-residence. 2. Hosokawa Sansai's residence. 3. Shiba secondary-residence. And in short, Hosokawa Edo residence was only Tatsunoguchi residence in 1622, and three residence existed in the site of this residence. So residence for the formal Shogunate visit could not be made. The residence for the formal Shogunate visit can be traced to the time of Kanei period. The center of Edo residences changed secondary-residence which was broad site from main residence which was narrow site in Kanei period. Also Sukiya residence can be traced time of Genna period.
