    Records of rice breeding for high palatablity in Fukuoka Agr.Res.Center were stored in a word-processor and spreadsheet system, which could be used easily by plant breeders. Multiple regression of palatability, combining ability in palatability, correlation between palatability and other traits in regional trials, correlation of several agronomic traits among different years or fertilizing levels and coefficient of parentage among breeding lines were computed. Cluster analysis based on the coefficients of parentage was also performed. The results showed that many valuable suggestions to make the rice breeding more efficient were obtained by analyzing breeding records using this simple data management system.

    For conducting the production of large-scale horticultural organization, the upgrading of information infrastructure should be necessary.
    Three personal computers were used. And they were connected by the Peer-to-Peer LAN (Local Area Network). It was set up with a method of Peer-to-Peer. Windows NT and Windows 95 were used as OS, and application softwares "MS Access" were developed on the basis.
    The following three systems were prepared as the system operated under LAN;
    "a business management system", "a registration system in attendance time" and "a system for recording processes of cultivation". "An electronic mail" was used for communication. As the server side system, "an analyzable system of sales slips" and "a general affairs control system" were prepared.
    These systems were experimentally operated for ten months by staffs of a laboratory. As a result, LAN was conceivable as the effective means that support large-scale horticultural organization. However, for constructing LAN systems, it was important to train a system manager and to provide guidance system.

    We have developed a Java applet which has interractive graph view functions of retrieved data from a vegetable and furuits market information database called NAPASS. It is easy to make graphs interractively of the retrieved data by combining the applet and NAPASS database with Perl scripts on a Web server. This method uses a standard Unix remote shell command the "rsh" for integraeting database server and the Web server. The database server and the Web server can be located in different sites. Therefore, a database can be shared by several Web servers that offer different functions with unique applets, depending on the purposes of the database use. The method suggested in this study is widely applicable to several domains. A weather database with interactive analytic function is an example.
