Although, the forest regeneration on the embankment constructed after the 2011 Mega Tsunami in the Sendai Plain has been planned, poor growth of planted black pine has widely distributed. Some soil parameters were determined to detect controlling factors on the poor growth of black pine on the embankment. Results suggested that high soil electric conductivity accompanied by relatively acidic soil reaction seem to be responsible for the poor growth. The soil properties mainly derived from planting base substrates transported from the Sendai hill area were heterogenous in the planting base.

This study examined grain-size changes of delta-front sediments in the Kiso River delta associated with progradation. The mud content decreases from the prodelta to the delta front deposits, and it becomes less than 50% in the lower part of the delta front. The horizon occurs commonly at 10-15 m below the present sea level. The median grain size of sand fraction close to the horizon is approximately 0.1-0.2 mm at most sites. The maximum median grain size of sand constituting the delta front deposits appears in the horizon with low mud content.

In the Ryukyu Islands, there are unique religious institutions called utaki. These are similar in form to Shinto shrines, especially to the local deity of production or village deity. The villages have only Utaki, and shrines are almost nonexistent. However, there are some shrines that were exceptionally built under the phase of nationalism. In this article, I will examine the differences between Yaeyama Shrine, which was established for the purpose of county promotion in conjunction with the 2600th year of the Emperor's reign (Utaki was read as Utaki), and Miyako Shrine, which was built as a shrine from the beginning.

On 22 April 2020 earthquake swarm began in Kamikochi region, central Japan. In May several times of relatively intense earthquakes occurred. After that many landslides and debris flows were caused by the heavy rain event on 14 June 2020. This situation was same as 1998. This suggests major landslides and debris flows are caused by the heavy rain event after earthquakes or earthquake swarm in Kamikochi region.

The purpose is to establish a cloud (fog) observation method in the alpine zone using a time lapse camera. The image taken by a time lapse camera in 2019 of the ridgeline between Mt. Yarigatake and Mt. Okuhotaka seen from the Chogatake Hutte was used. The image is divided into tiles of a certain size, and the presence or absence of clouds (fog) is determined for each tile. Clouds (fog) were classified into four categories using a deep learning model pre-trained with an existing large-scale image classification data set. It was found that the accuracy of classification by the model is very high, and it is possible to grasp the spatiotemporal distribution of clouds (fog) from camera images taken of mountainous areas using this method.

This study introduces the results of thermal environment evaluation as part of the living environment for Fukushima Prefecture. In this study, UTCI (Universal Thermal Climate Index), which is an index that can evaluate both heat stress and cold stress, was selected for evaluation. Monthly meteorological simulations were performed to obtain the meteorological elements required to calculate UTCI. The UTCI was calculated using the calculation results of surface temperature, radiation temperature, relative humidity, and scalar wind speed, and the characteristics of the thermal environment for each region in the prefecture were clarified.

This study focuses on ethical consumption in order to grasp the overall picture of ethical consumption research, what kind of research context exists in the world, and what kind of issues are being debated. Through a comprehensive literature review, we will organize the current scope of ethical consumption research and summarize what kind of ethics is being discussed.
Then, we organize what kind of discussions are being developed. We believe that clarifying what kind of viewpoints these perspectives bring to geographical studies related to food chains is an interesting research topic for deepening geographical studies in an interdisciplinary perspective.

The purpose of this study was to understand the actual state of management by focusing on the distribution and location environment of waste collection points. As a result of focusing on the location environment of the garbage collection point and observing it, it was confirmed that the location has a regional tendency corresponding to the environment around the garbage collection point. However, there are many unclear points about the location environment, background, and land use. In the future, I would like to consider the management of garbage collection points.
