    Allergic lesions do not develop immediatly after by antigen-antibody reaction, but mediate by release of mediators from cells and serum as a result of antigen antibody reaction. In the release process enzyme may concern. The terms of protease or proteolytic enzyme designate all enzymes capable of hydrolyzing peptide bonds and also activates in allergic reaction. The activation of protease is the fundamental cellular and humoral reaction to the all stimuli which diturb the body's homeostatic balance. Itching and blister formation in various type of allergic skin diseases were explained on the situation of protease.

    In an attempt to evaluate the natural defense mechanisms against cancer in humans, the bacteriophage neutralizing activity of sera was assayed in 53 patients with malignant neoplasms, and the values were compared with those in 25 normal healthy subjects, in 30 patients with tuberculosis and 25 patients with miscellaneous diseases. The cancer sera showed the same distribution and range of the activities as the normal and other pathological sera. The neutralizing activity of a serum against T3 phage was always higher than that against T2, but the two values were not always proportional. There was no correlation between the phage neutralizing activiny and the positive reaction to C-reactive protein antiserum. A limited number of cancer sera showed a tendency to negative correlation between the phage neutralizing activity and amounts of serum γ-globulin, but this was not conclusive. The administration of a large dose of Mitomycin-C during a few days for the treatment of cancer resulted in a remarkable fall in the neutraliziing activity, but a medium dose of the drug given once a week hardly influenced the activity. No parallelism could not be established between the phage neutralizing activity and the zymosan units of properdin. The phage neutralization technique was originally described as a method for assaying serum properdin. Recently, evidences have increased to indicate that the properdin is a family of natural antibodies present in sera which cross-react widely with various polysaccharides of bacterial and animal origin and also with several kinds of viruses, including bacterisphages. Therefore, the present study indicates that one of these natural antibodies remains even in the advanced stage of malignant diseases without defensive effect against tumors.

    In order to ascertain a possibility that a capacity of antibody production against a certain bacterial antigen might share with the tumor-specefic resistance, antitoxin response in tumorbearing hosts was studied by means of active immunization with tetanus toxoid. The primary response in 28 cancer patients was significantly impaired with that in 23 normal subjects. However, the secondary response was equally elicited with toxoid in cancer patients as in normal subjects. Growth of tumor autografts was observed among patients whose antitoxin level was relatively high as well as among patients with little or no antitoxin. Therefore, the present study reveales that the defensive capacity of a host against cancer cannot be evaluated with such an indicator as tetanus antitoxin. It seems more likely from available evidences that the immune response of tumor-bearing individuals is characteristic of lowered delayed-type reaction rather than impaired production of humoral antibodies.

    The aim of present study are to examine whether the antibodies that cause tanned cell hemagglutination test and skin test are related to development of the Konjac Asthma. The experimental methods are same as described in a previous paper. The results obtained are as follows: 1) Intradermal test with "Maiko" was examined on 61 cases exposed to "Maiko" and 43 cases from the other place. In the former 52% of the test was positie and in the latter 13% of the test w s positie. Prausnitz-Kustner test (P-K test) with "Maiko" was examined on 37 cases exposed to "Maiko" and 13 cases from other place. In the former 57% of the test was positie and in the latter none of them was positive. From these findings the authors assumed that the P-K test as a method to confirm the fact of the sensitization against "Maiko" in the experimental subject was more specific than the intradermal test from a judgement on the percentage of positive reaction in the persons not exposed to "Maiko". 2) In case of next experiment the skin tests (these tests were included the intradermal and P-K test) and tanned cell hemagglutination test with "Maiko" were put in force on the same experimental subject at the same time. Consequently the results obtained that the hemagglutination test and the skin tests showed positive reaction in all patients of Konjac Asthma, and, some of the tests proved positive in the persons exposed to "Maiko" and, the whole of the tests proved negative on the majority of the persons not exposed to "Maiko", Further the authors confirmed that the intradermal and P-K reactions were comperatively parallel, but, these skin tests were not relative to the tanned cell hemagglutination test on the "Maiko" sensitive individials. And the specifity of the P-K test was exceedingly than the hemagglutination test from a judgement on the percentage of positive reaction in the "Maiko"-nonsensitive persons. From these findings the authors assumed that the development of Bronchial Asthma caused by the inhalation of "Maiko" seems to be more related to the antibody responsible for P-K test than the intradermal and hemagglutination test. 3) The authors investigated the serological properties of the antibodies responsible for hemagglutination test and P-K test on the Maiko-sensitive persons. In case of this study the authors selected the experimental subject was not enforced the treatment of the hyposensitization with "Maiko". Consequently they confirmed that the antibody caused by P-K test is coincide with reagin, and the antibody caused by hemagglutination test not similar to blocking antibody with the exception of the property from thermostable. From these findings the authors assumed that the antibody responsible for hemagglutination test are not identical with skin-sensitizing antibody on the "Maiko"-sensitive persons.

    By means of our mixed agglutination technique applied to tissue culture monolayer, speciesspecific antibodies were demonstrated in Bjorklund's horse anti-human cancer serum. However, no cancer specific antibodies against antigens on the surface of HeLa cells were detectable by this method. All antibodies combining with HeLa cells in vitro could be absorbed not only by cancer tissue powder but also by various normal human tissue powders, and also by Bjorklund's own preparations of cancer or normal tissues. The results obtained thus far completely coincide with those of Goldstein and Hiramoto who used a cytotoxicity test for investigating the specificity of the serum, but they do not agree with the results reported by Bjorklund and his associates.

    Hydrocortisone, prednisolone, and dexamethasone were studied for their action on the histamine release in the skin of albino rat. These glucocorticoids evidently inhibited the reduction of skin histamine induced by dextran in their optimal doses, individually not affecting the histamine content, when injected intramuscularly in divided doses 24 hours and I hour prior to intraperitoneal administration of dextran. Their inhibitory effect reached the maximum (approximately 70 percent inhibition) with the dose 10 mg/kg of hydrocortisone acetate, 5 mg/kg of prednisolone acetate, and 1 mg/kg of dexamethasone respectively, whereas at the dosages larger than the above mentioned the inhibitory effect rather decreased. Relative potency of these glucocorticoids, in terms of doses producing the maximum effect, was proportional to their anti-inflammatory effect.

    Guinea pigs and rats were passively sensitized with anti-egg-albumin rabbit-serum and shocked with an intravenous injection of the allergen. Serotonin in the lung, liver and small intestine were extracted by a modified method described by Udenfriend, Weissbach et al (1955) and qualitatively determined by ultraviolet absorption. Measurement of the monoamine oxidase activity in vitro was also investigated on the lung, liver, kidney and small intestine by the method of Sjoerdsma et al (1955). The result showed that serotonin value in the organ increased in anaphylaxis, and lung of guinia pigs and rats remarkably increased. In anaphylaxis, activity of MAO in vitro decreased in these organa; especially remarkable decrease was observed in the liver of gunea pig, and kidney of rat. LSD, antagonist of serotonin, affected slightly to the activity of MAO.
