A new species of the genus Ummeliata Strand is described from Xiaowutai Mountains, China, under the name of Ummeliata xiaowutai. Distributional data and illustrations of somatic and genitalic morphology are provided.
The salticid spider genus Chinattus is new to the Japanese fauna. One new species is described as Chinattus ogatai. Two species, Chinattus dactyloides comb. nov. and Chinattus furcatus are newly recorded from Japan. C. dactyloides is transferred from the genus Hasarius. The female of C. furcatus is described for the first time. Spiders of this genus are distinguishable from other Japanese salticid spiders by their general appearances or genital morphologies.
Karyotypes of two sclerosomatid harvestmen, Systenocentrus japonicus and Paraumbogrella pumilio, were analyzed. Males of the both species shared a very similar karyotype with 2n＝10 comprised of four metacentric pairs of autosomes and a submetacentric X and a metacentric Y chromosome. The karyotype was conservative also within each species. Sharing of the conserved karyotype supports close relationship of the two species, which is also suggested by several other morphological and ecological characteristics. Distribution maps of the two species are provided.
A new species, Diphya wulingensis, is described from Wuling Mountains, Hebei Province of China, and the female of D. tanasevitchi (Zhang, Zhang & Yu 2003) is described and illustrated for the first time using the specimens from Liupan Mountains of Ningxia, and Wuling Mountains of Hebei.
