The computational mechanics has been recognized as an important tool in various fields, especially in the design of such structures as buildings, aircrafts, ships, automobiles, nuclear reactors etc. However, it is also true that the beginners often find the computational mechanics difficult to use due to various types of complexity involved. Thus the so-called expert systems which help engineers in the data input and output phases as well as analysis phase should be useful. This paper deals with some of such expert systems, i.e. (1) a novel FEM mesh generation system based on the fuzzy knowledge processing technique, (2) a hypermedia-based system for constructing input data for a general purpose FEM code, and (3) an expert system for BEM analyses.
