Utivarachna phyllicola Deeleman-Reinhold, 2001 (Araneae, Trachelidae) hitherto known from Thailand, Indonesia (Sumatra), Malaysia (Borneo) and Myanmar (near Kawthaung) was collected from Lampi Island belonging to the Myeik Archipelago, Tanintharyi Region (former Tenasserim), southern Myanmar. This species is recorded from Myanmar for the second time, and this paper represents the first report of the family Trachelidae from Myanmar. This interesting spider is described and illustrated on the basis of the newly obtained material.

The crabs collected from the Sahul Shelf, in the Australian part of the Timor Sea by the RV Hakuhō Maru (KH-72-1 cruise) are identified and recorded, with some taxonomic comments. They are referred to 40 species of 29 genera in 10 families, including 2 new majoid species, Naxioides sahulensis sp. nov. (Epialtidae) and Prismatopus peterngi sp. nov. (Majidae). The following 10 species in 7 families, Cryptodromia amboinensis De Man, 1888 (Dromiidae), Mclaydromia colini Guinot and Tavares, 2003 (Dromiidae), Ethusa hirsuta McArdle, 1900 (Ethusidae), Drachiella morum (Alcock, 1896) (Aethridae), Hyastenus kyusyuensis (Yokoya, 1933) (Epialtidae), Pseudolambrus bidentatus (Flipse, 1930) (Parthenopidae), Charybdis (Charybdis) rosaea (Hombron and Jacquinot, 1846) (Portunidae), Latopilumnus tuberculosus (Garth and Kim, 1984) (Pilumnidae), Pilumnus rotundus Borradaile, 1902 (Pilumnidae) and Viaderiana typica Ward, 1942 (Pilumnidae), are recorded for the first time from Australia. Most of the species reported are shallow-water inhabitants obtained from station 29 (49–52 m depth), and it is remarkable that majoid and pilumnid crabs are dominant (11 species in the families Inachidae, Epialtidae and Majidae, and 14 species in the family Pilumnidae), with no representative of the family Xanthidae. Otherwise, the generic position of an unusual megalopa of the family Homolidae found in the trawl catch at station 33 (535–547 m depth) is discussed.

New collection records are given for Hyperxiphia hirashimai (Okutani, 1965), Indoxiphia prima Smith, 2019, Lissoxiphyda mitai Shinohara, 2020, Xiphydria annulitibia Takeuchi, 1936, and X. ogasawarai Matsumura, 1927. Lissoxiphyda mitai is recorded from Amami-ôshima Island for the first time. Xiphydria nagasei Shinohara, 2019, is new to the fauna of Okayama Prefecture. Sorbus commixta Hedl. (Rosaceae) is newly recorded as a host plant of X. ogasawarai.

This is the first record of Andricus mukaigawae (Mukaigawa, 1913) (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae) in Myanmar. This is also the first record of the tribe Cynipini (which induces galls on oaks and their relatives) in the country. Galls of A. mukaigawae were collected from Quercus griffithii Hook.f. & Thomson ex Miq. in Tedim Township, Falam District, during a field expedition to the Chin Hills in northwestern Myanmar. Since the species diversity of potential host plants, Quercus and allies, is high in the mountainous areas of the north to northwestern Myanmar where galls of A. mukaigawae were found, further field surveys in these areas will help uncover the species diversity of Cynipidae in Myanmar.

Rokuro Nagasawa was a student in University of Tokyo under Professor Isao Ijima. He was involved in editing a zoological magazine named “Dobutsugaku Zasshi”, then the official journal of the Zoological Society of Tokyo, but his subsequent life is not well documented. We conducted bibliographic surveys to evaluate Nagasawa’s achievements. He entered the University of Tokyo in 1907 and was in charge of editing “Dobutsugaku Zasshi” from 1911 to 1917. After that, he suddenly disappeared from the Zoological Society of Tokyo and moved to Vancouver, where he worked as an editor-in-chief of Japanese newspapers. He wrote many newspaper articles under the pen name of “Nanbokusei”. Prior to moving to Canada, he also wrote under the pen name of “N.S. Sei”. He returned to Japan before World War II, and worked as a high school teacher in Kyoto. He then moved to Hyogo prefecture and wrote and edited the local history of the area.
