Takakia lepidozioides contains pleasant scent. The aroma components of Takakia lepidozioides were analyzed by GC/MS and NMR to reveal the existence of coumarin (1) as a major component, which is the key odorant of this species. This is the first report of the presence of coumarin in bryophytes.
One of conspicuous new commers for aquarium plants in mosses known as "Queen Moss" or "Amblystegiaceae sp. Manaus" was revealed to be Hydropogonella gymnostoma.
Pohlia wahlenbergii bearing caducous branchlets were found in Nagano Prefecture (Central Japan, August 2012) and Kyoto Prefecture (Kinki District, December 2012).
