A quantitative spectrographic analysis of niobium and tantalum in 18-8 stainless steel was researched by the solution method and the salts powder method.
The amount of niobium in the sarnple for experiments was about 1 percent, and tantalum 0.1 percent.
The spectral analysis of niobium was made by the solution method, and tantalum by the solution method and the salts powder method.
Concerning the exitation process, condensed spark was taken in the solution method and direct current arc was taken in the salts powder method. In both cases, carbon electrode was used for supporting electrode commonly.
The saturate solution of ammonium-oxalate was used to inhibit the hydrolysis of niobium and tantalum in the solution method.
According to the results, the quantitative precision of niobium was about 3 percent, and as for tantalum, responsibility was low in the solution method and reproducibility essentially in the salts powder method, but practical enough.
