What we are aiming at in the daily English classes is usually the "four skills" of learners. Accordingly, it is teachers' main target and goal to make learners master those skills. Adding to those four skills, I think that the cultivation of asking ability is one more important skill for learners to acquire by themselves and for themselves. This skill, of course, could be regarded as one of the skills of speaking and listening level. But students often keep silent in the classroom in Japan in terms of questions and answers. I think asking mind of them should be trained more in our classroom activities. Asking ability could be disciplined and acquired through daily practice of learners. This asking skill is, I believe, one of the most difficult but important abilities for the learners of English to master today.
