From August 2020 a new editorial team will take responsibility for managing the Circulation Journal, an official scientific journal of the Japanese Circulation Society (JCS). Because of the tremendous efforts of the immediatepast editorial team lead by Professor Toyoaki Murohara, the Circulation Journal has contributed to scientific progress in the field of cardiovascular medicine. The new team will build on that foundation to further develop the quality of papers published and increase the international reputation of the Journal. 

We are now receiving more than 1,500 manuscripts per year, but the acceptance rate of original manuscripts is less than 30%. We regret having to reject many manuscripts that are submitted but do not strictly comply with the Journal’s aims, and to resolve this problem, Circulation Reports, an additional official journal of the JCS, has been established in conjunction with the Circulation Journal since January 2019. For both journals to be more widely read, it is important to receive manuscripts from all over the world. Although we are receiving about half of the manuscripts from outside Japan, we need to continue promoting submission of manuscripts from abroad, and especially from Asia and Oceania. The Journal publishes valuable original research articles as well as informative reviews and editorials from all over the world. Sometimes these will appear in the form of controversy setting, in-depth reviews or state-of-the art, etc. 

The new members of the editorial team will do their very best to maintain and further enhance the scientific quality of the Journal, so that it is recognized as a leading international medical journal. Finally, I appreciate the great contributions from all editorial team members to the Circulation Journal.
