The crystal of (Et
4N)
0.5[Ni(dmit)
2] belongs to triclinic system (dmit: isotrithionedithiolate). In the crystal, face-to-face stacking and side-by-side arrangement of Ni(dmit)
2 molecules form the two-dimensional S···S networks, which are weakly connected in the third direction by thioketone sulfur atoms in the isotrithione ring. The electrical conductivity measurements show that (Et
4N)
0.5[Ni(dmit)

The structure of the ordered room-temperature phase of tetrachloroferrocene was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The structure is monoclinic, space group P2
1 and final R=0.038 for 1129 independent reflections. The chloro groups have a 1,1′,2,2′ configuration with an average rotation of 2.5° of the rings from the eclipsed configuration. Mössbauer spectra exhibit a line broadening ascribed to fluctuation of the electric field gradient (EFG) caused by the orientational disorder between the x or y and z axes of molecule.

In alkaline solution, 4-nitrophenyl
N-hydroxycarbamate undergoes reaction by elimination to yield 4-nitrophenoxide ion, and by rearrangement to yield
N-carboxy-4-nitrophenoxyamine. The effect of pH on the yield of the rearrangement product establishes that a transient spiro Meisenheimer complex is formed reversibly. Aromatization of this species occurs by two competing pH-independent reactions: one involves expulsion of a hydroxamate ion; the other involves the formation of a carbamate ion
via a general base catalyzed collapse of the complex.
