The temperature dependence of the FT-IR spectra of adsorbed cyclohexanone oxime on pentasil zeolite revealed that the rearrangement to ε-caprolactam takes place at 100 °C, a higher temperature is necessary for its desorption, and a high selectivity over high silicious zeolite is attributable to its low acidity for both smooth rearrangement and smooth desorption. A neutral silanol is proposed to be an active site.

Hydrogen peroxide produced successively from the copper(II)-catalyzed oxidation of both cysteine (CySH) and glutathione (GSH) was detected using arthromyces ramosus peroxidase (ARP)-catalyzed luminol chemiluminescence (CL) reaction. Two peaks appeared in the CL responce curve. The former peak was due to CySH while that of the latter to GSH. The time-resolved luminol CL signals were applied for the simultaneous determination of CySH and GSH.

Of twenty-seven synthetic analogues of coelenterazine tested for bioluminescence activity with recombinant apoaequorin, eleven showed activity, but the best activity was obtained with celenterazine incorporated into wild type apoaequorin and into apoaequorin with all three cystein residues replaced by serine.

60 with an equimolar amount of chlorophenyldiazirine in refluxing toluene afforded the C
60-chlorophenylcarbene 1:1 adduct in 37% yield. The adduct was shown to have the cyclopropane structure by

In situ FT-IR external reflection spectra of spread monolayers (Langmuir films) of stearic acid and Cd stearate on the water surface were recorded at various surface areas. In the stearic acid monolayer, the trans-gauche conformational change upon monolayer compression was observed, while only the all-trans conformer was observed in the Cd stearate monolayer. Even in largely expanded monolayers of Cd stearate, present is the rigid crsytalline island instead of the rather flexible island in the acid monolayer.

The local structure of erbium(III) bromanilate complex was studied by the EXAFS (extended X-ray absorption fine structure) and IR spectra of some different temperatures. From the EXAFS analyses the coordination numbers and the distances between Er(III) and oxygen atoms were recognized to change as temperature changed. IR spectra showed that the frequency of Er(III)-oxygen stretching vibration was increased with temperature. The water molecules involved play important roles in the local structures of this complex.
