A two-dimensional hexagonal pattern was observed upon cleavage of a zinc single crystal after attack with sulfuric acid under a vertical high magnetic field. This phenomenon results from the formation of microscopic magnetohydrodynamic flow (micro-MHD flow) as microscopic vortexes, which interact with fluctuations of the reaction activity. The spatial pattern of the zinc surface is thought to be a result of the growth of fluctuation in the reaction activity about the zinc anodic dissolution, which was stabilized by the micro-MHD vortexes.

It indicated that lanthanum ions in the erythrocyte would change the conformation of CDB3 and influence the control on aldolase activity.

The droplets smaller than 1.5 μm in radius with high absorptivity migrated in the opposite direction against the laser irradiation. 2]Br
2 was observed down to 1.8 K. The observed
T1 temperature dependence was well reproduced by the Sachdev’s treatment giving an exchange interaction energy (
J) of ca. 2500 K. 1-D spin migration assignable to paramagnetic electrons in impurity amounts of Ni
II sites was observed at low temperatures.

The photosensitized enantiodifferentiating isomerization of (
Z)-cyclooctene (
1Z) in supercritical carbon dioxide has been performed for the first time. The critical control of the enantiomeric excess (ee) of chiral product, (
E)-cyclooctene (
1E), and even the switching of the product’s chirality were achieved through a small change of pressure particularly in the low-density region near the critical density. Quantitative evaluation of these ee changes was achieved by estimating differential activation volumes between the diastereomeric transition states of the reaction.

Here, we report a new simple approach to the preparation of hierarchical structured zeolites through transforming the seeded diatomaceous silica into zeolite by vapor-phase transport (VPT) method. The morphology and macro-porosity of the diatomite are well preserved even in the samples with zeolite content higher than 50%. The products possess high mechanical strength and hydrothermal stability.

The effect of incorporating single-wall carbon nanotubes in TiO
2 film electrodes on the properties of dye-sensitized solar cells was studied. Compared with an unmodified solar cell, it is observed that the short-circuit photocurrent (
Jsc) of the modified solar cells increases while the open-circuit photovoltage decreases slightly. The enhanced
Jsc is correlated with increased electrical conductivity, light scattering and concentration of free conduction band electrons.

Condensation reaction of 3,6-diphenylphthalonitrile and 2,3-dicyano-5,6-diethyl-1,4-pyrazine employing the modified lithium method has efficiently produced the novel donor-acceptor phthalocyanine derivatives having adjacently-fused pyrazine rings.
