The disulfosuccinate sodium salt of lutein (Ldss) was prepared for the first time and an obvious blue shift appeared in the UV absorption spectra of its aqueous solution due to the formation of substantial H-type aggregates. The experimental results reflected the improved properties of Ldss, including excellent stability to alkaline solution at ambient temperature in the dark as well as better aqueous solubility and radical scavenging ability compared with those of lutein and the disodium disuccinate of lutein.

N-vinylamides at the amide position but also by the chemical structures, including the hydrogen atom of the secondary amide group.

To achieve high efficiency, the blocking layer is of vital importance to perovskite solar cells. To investigate the influence of the morphology, conductivity, and photoluminescence quenching ability of the TiO

In this letter, we propose a novel and practicable route for fabricating a highly sensitive, recyclable surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) sensor based on the Ag-Zn(OH)F network. The fabricated Ag-Zn(OH)F network showed rapid photocatalytic activities under ultraviolet (UV) irradiation, which formed the premise for the recyclable SERS substrate. The fabricated SERS sensor was able to detect Rhodamine-6G (R6G) in low concentrations ranging from 10
−13 to 10
−8 M. The ability to detect multicomponent analytes was also demonstrated by detecting mixtures of R6G and 4-methylbenzoic acid (4-MBA). In addition, the detection sensitivity was enhanced by bending the microcapillary.

Giant vesicles capable of generating a catalytic amphiphile that promoted vesicular membrane production were prepared. The catalyst was derived from decylaniline on the vesicles and a catalytic aldehyde present outside the vesicles. Once the catalyst was generated inside the vesicular membrane, they proliferated via a peeling-off process after membrane aldehyde addition.

We succeeded in synthesizing edge-brominated zeolite-templated carbon (ZTC-Br) as the key intermediate of edge-functionalization of ZTC via an electrophilic aromatic substitution reaction using dibromoisocyanuric acid. ZTC-Br was easily converted into carbazole-modified ZTC (ZTC-Cz) using Suzuki–Miyaura coupling. Interestingly, solvent-dependent changes of the fluorescence intensity of ZTC-Cz owing to its swelling–shrinking behavior were observed.

Epitaxial crystallization onto a directionally crystallizable organic solvent, 1,3,5-trichlorobenzene, was applied to polymer blends containing regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl) (P3HT) and either polystyrene (PS) or regiorandom poly(3-dodecylthiophene-2,5-diyl) (P3DDT). Well-ordered lamellae-in-lamella and dots-in-lamella structures were observed for P3HT/PS and P3HT/P3DDT, respectively. P3HT/PS gave more-discernible lamellar nanopatterns than did P3HT/P3DDT, owing to miscibility differences. Grazing-incidence wide-angle X-ray diffraction analysis, and polarized UV–visible absorption spectroscopy revealed that the P3HT crystalline lamellae were oriented edge-on in the thin films. Polymer blend nanostructures were also obtained when a third component, phenyl-C
61-butyric acid methyl ester, was present, thus demonstrating the potential of this strategy for engineering the nanostructure of the active layers in P3HT-based electronic devices.

Novel ether-bridged fluorinated poly(phenylquinoxaline) (PEPPQ) dielectric films with enhanced glass-transition temperatures (

ortho-substituted methyl groups (2-1) or a fluorene moiety (2-2) in their molecular structures. The obtained PEPPQ films exhibited excellent combined properties, including high thermal stability with
Tg over 260 °C, high electrical insulating characteristics with a volume resistivity of over 10
17 Ω cm, and a dielectric strength higher than 212 V μm
−1. Besides, the bulky substituents and low-molar-electronegative trifluoromethyl groups endowed the polymers with low dielectric constants (
DK < 2.82 at 1 MHz) and good water repellent property.

Photovoltaic effects in ferroelectrics have attracted much attention due to their potential of generating a large open-circuit voltage. Recently, we focus on an anomalous photovoltaic effect in ferroelectric liquid-crystalline (FLC) phase. In this work, we have synthesized FLC phenylterthiophene derivatives, whose carrier mobilities have different magnitudes. They show anomalous photovoltaic effects in their FLC phases. The photocurrent response is correlated with the carrier mobility and spontaneous polarization in the FLC phase instead of ionic impurities.

Our method can produce silver metals on cell membrane via the formation of complex of silver ions and membrane proteins, followed by reduction of silver ion. Formed silver metals generated surface-enhanced Raman signal and enabled the high-sensitive detection of Raman signal from the cell membrane. Thus, our method is expected to be applied for cell membrane analysis.

R2 = 0.95356 for yellow MOFs). Zr-MOFs are therefore good adsorbents for the removal of Pb(II).

nGlu headgroups, controlling the curvature of the molecular assemblies. The longer chain C
