      Gray scale image analysis is used to investigate crease appearance created by applying a load of 6 kgf for 60 minutes to regularly or irregularly folded cotton cloth. The angular second moment, contrast, correlation and entropy extracted from the gray level co•occurrence matrix are measured as visual feature parameters. The fractal dimension is determined from the fractal analysis of the relief of the curved surface of the gray level image. The image information parameters except for contrast tend to change more or less rapidly with the initial increase of numbers of folding, after then, these parameters are followed by the moderate change. Contrast increases linearly with numbers of folding. These image information parameters are found to be useful for characterizing the visual features of creased cloths. Crease appearance and difference between regularly and irregularly crease of cotton cloth are discussed in the relation to the visual features contained therein, such as uniformity, local variation, linearity, information content, complexity and so on.
