      According to a survey of ostomates on clothing, the more anxiety they have with their clothing, the less secure they feel when going out. It was also reported that they felt restricted in their clothing choices, due to the bulge of their pouches or the constant pressure on the waist line area.

      Using the suggestions given by female respondents, such as “remodeled pants”, “a blouse and a skirt that look like a one-piece dress”, and “semi-tight skirts”, clothes were altered to improve the level of satisfaction with their clothing. The lines of all these clothes conceal the pouch, and they are comfortable to wear with no added pressure on the waist line area. The clothing scored high with the participants. Many voiced a desire to wear the altered clothes.

      We would like to create clothes based on the specific suggestions and individual needs of male and female ostomates. We hope widely sharing such knowledge will help improve their quality of life and clothing.
