This roport reviews the studies on the beam to column joint in monolithic reinforced concrete frame structures, which were performed in Japan, partly making references to some foreign studies. Four points are contained,(1) chronological review of joint studies in Japan, (2) review on the structural behavior of joint; stress distribution at joint, effect of several factors on the shear cracking stress and ultimate shear stress, shear resisting mechanism, (3) review on the histeritic behavior of column beam subassemblages; effect of several factors on the histerisis loop, deformation analysis of beam including the joint, methods of improving the histerisis loop of the subassemblages, (4) needed researches in near future.
