The construction of Kojima-route of Honshu-Shikoku bridges is progressing steadily in this fouryears. In 5P steel caisson of South and North Bisan-Seto Bridges, prepacted-concrete work was completed in 1981 for the first time of this route, overcoming some unexpected troubles. This report introduces the plan of this work in large-scale underwater construction, the mortar plant ship, casting rock into the caisson, pouring a large amount of mortar, quality control of concrete, etc.
