The Yokohama Koh Odankyo (commonly called Yokohama Bay Bridge) crosses over the Yokohama passage from Honmoku Pier and Daikoku Pier, and consists a part of the Yokohama City Bay Coastial Highway. The superstructure is a cable-stayed bridge with three continuous girder and its length is 860 meters. When it is completed, the center span of 460 m will become the longest one in this type of bridge in the world. The substructures for both the tower and side piers are multipile type. In order to make the construction area as small as possible and to shorten the construction period at the site, large pre-cast blocks, which are both the first segments of the piles and P. C. barges (buoyant footings), are built at fabrication yards and assembled on the bridge site. This paper reports the summary of structural design and construction method of the pre-cast blocks which have already finished.
