3. This work is only a portion of the overall construction of 7 LNG inground storage tanks (60000 kiloliter) in the Higashi-Ogishima LNG Terminal projected by The Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. Since the side walls and baseplates of the LNG inground storage tanks will be constructed of mass concrete, various types of studies were made from the planning stages to develop an optimum method of controlling thermal cracking caused by heat of hydration of cement.
