JOURNAL FREE ACCESSIt was found that methyl iodide of acetylenic Mannich base reacted with active methylene compounds to form alkylated acetylenic compounds with a loss of tertiary amine. Various acetylenic compounds may be prepared by this method. It seems likely that such alkylation reactions proceed mainly by SN-1 mechanism in alcohol and mainly by SN-2 mechanism in dibutyl ether.View full abstractDownload PDF (826K) -

JOURNAL FREE ACCESSThe ether-type glucuronide of p-hydroxybenzoic acid was isolated from the urine of rabbits receiving methyl p-hydroxybenzoate and its structure was established as p-carboxyphenyl-β-D-glucopyranosiduronic acid. Three main metabolites, p-hydroxybenzoic acid, p-hydroxyhippuric acid, and the ether-type glucuronide, were identified in the urine, and the ester-type glucuronide and p-carboxyphenyl sulfate were proved as minor metabolites by means of paper chromatography.View full abstractDownload PDF (645K) -

JOURNAL FREE ACCESSThe ester-type glucuronide of p-hydroxybenzoic acid was isolated as two derivatives from the urine of rabbits receiving p-hydroxybenzoic acid and their structures were established as methyl (p-methoxybenzoyl 2, 3, 4-tri-O-acetyl-β-D-glucopyranosid) uronate and methyl (p-acetoxybenzoyl 2, 3, 4-tri-O-acetyl-β-D-glucopyranosid) uronate. When feeding p-hydroxybenzoic acid to rabbits, similarly as in using the methyl ester, the unchanged acid, p-hydroxyhippuric acid, the ether-type glucuronide, the estertype glucuronide, and p-carboxyphenyl sulfate were excreted as five metabolites in the urine.View full abstractDownload PDF (689K) -

JOURNAL FREE ACCESSThe color reaction with benzaldehyde and sulfuric acid known to identify picrctoxin was found to be a sensitive color reaction common to aliphatic compounds in general which have a C=C double bond. JOURNAL FREE ACCESSMetabolism of the antioxidant, 2, 6-di-tert-butyl-p-cresol (BHT), was studied in a rabbit. After administration of 0.5g./kg. of BHT by mouth, 37.5% of it was excreted as glucuronides, 16.7% as ethereal sulfates, and 6.8% as free phenols. α-Hydroxy-2, 6-di-tert-butyl-p-cresol, 3, 5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxybenzoic acid and 4, 4'-ethylenebis (2, 6-di-tert-butylphenol) were identified by paper chromatography from the rabbit urine 24 hours after the administration of 0.5g./kg. of BHT. BEYMA, compounds A, D, and F (dimethylosoic acid-I, trimethylosoic acid I and monomethylosoic acid), were proved to be diphenyl ethers (XV : R1=R4=CH3 ; R2=R3=R5=H ; R1=R2=R4=CH3 ; R3=R5=H ; and R4=CH3 ; R1=R2=R3=R5=H) and compound A was proved to be identical with asterric acid24) produced by Aspergillus terreus THOM. Other metabolite of the mold, compounds C and E, were respectively expressed by compound A monoacetate (XV : R1=R4=CH3 ; R2=R3=H ; R5=COCH3) and bisdechlorogeodin (XVIII : X=H ; R=CH3). JOURNAL FREE ACCESSThe urinary metabolites of p-dimethylaminoazobenzene (DAB) and p-aminoazobenzene (AB) in a rat were examined. AB, ethereal sulfates of 4'-hydroxy-AB, N-acetyl-4'-hydroxy-AB, and 3-hydroxy-AB, p-acetamidoacetanilide, and conjugated forms of p-and o-aminophenol were detected from the AB-urine. As a new type of metabolite, ethereal sulfate of 3, 4'-dihydroxy-AB was also detected from the urine. These metabolites were also detected from the DAB-urine, in which the presence of ethereal sulfates of 4'-hydroxy-4-methylaminoazobenzene was also assumed. For the identification of these metabolites, several sulfates and glucuronides of aminoazo dyes were newly prepared and their physical properties were examined.View full abstractDownload PDF (1030K) -

Im wesentlichen bedingt die Art der glykosidischen Bindung den Unterschied zwischen den Gestalten der Reaktionskurven, was zum Nachweis der Bindungsart dient. JOURNAL FREE ACCESSDie Reaktionsgeschwindigkeiten der Oligosaccharide der Amylose-Reihe mit Perjodat werden in verschiedenen Konzentrationsgraden untersucht und dabei festgestellt, da■ am Anfang des Oxydationsverlaufs (1∼5 Std.) die Geschwindigkeit in einem bestimmten Verhaltnis zu der ursprunglichen Konzentration der Polyose steht, und da■ die Losung derselben molaren Konzentration von verschiedenen Polyosen im Verlauf einer bestimmten Zeit ein und dieselbe Menge Perjodat verbraucht. Some of these products were catalytically hydrogenated to 2-amino-3-methoxybenzoyl compounds.
