A 5-year -old neutered male Miniature Pinscher with diagnosis of diabetes mellitus and hypothyroidism developed auditory hypersensitivity, hyperactivity, and tremors following oral levothyroxine sodium (a T4 formulation) therapy for hypothyroidism. This reaction persisted despite adjustment of the levothyroxine sodium dose or changes in the product . The animal showed unstable blood glucose levels and eventually developed trismus. We observed improvement in trismus and stabilization of blood glucose levels, without any adverse reactions after we switched to oral liothyronine sodium (a T3 formulation).

We report the case of a dog with multiple primary extramedullary plasmacytomas of the lymph nodes. The animal presented with multiple enlarged lymph nodes, and histopathological examination confirmed diagnosis of plasmacytoma. The tumor contained numerous amyloid deposits. The bone marrow was unaffected, and we observed no other findings suggestive of multiple myeloma. Therefore, we diagnosed the animal with primary plasmacytoma of the lymph nodes. No study has reported multiple primary extramedullary plasmacytoma of the lymph nodes in dogs, and long-term follow-up is warranted. Key words: amyloidosis, extramedullary plasmacytoma, lymph node
