Statistical analysis of technical informations was examined. Free key-words used in the literatures which contained the key-word of TOBACCO in CA search file were distributed by Bradford's low. The relationship between these free key-words and the distribution of the literatures were clarified by a statistical method of Hayashi's theory of quantfication. Using the 42 free key-words with high frequencies, the informations concerning to tobacco were distributed mainly to three directions. The result showed good clusterlng of the informations and the informations were classified into 4 groups. The possibility of the good clustering with regard to a part of tobacco information and the procedure of the analysis by a number of free key-words were also showed.

Compatibility of two indexing vocabularies, Subject Attributes of International Referral System for Sources of Environmental Information (INFOTERRA) and JICST Thesaurus of Scientific and Technical Terms (1981 edition) was studied for the cooperation between INFOTERRA and JOIS (JICST On-Iine Information System) and to allow easier retrieval for environmental terms included in JICST Thesaurus for the users of INFOTERRA. Japanese translation of each term in INFOTERRA Subject Attributes (I-term) was first compared with terms in JICST Thesaurus (J-terms) and then compatibility of each I-term with J-terms was investigated based on the concept it represents. Subject categories of the two vocabularies were also compared. As a result, about 50% of I-terms were found approximately to be matched with J-terms. I-terms for which no matching or closely related J-terms were found included those in the fields of politics, diplomacy and military matters as well as recreation and land use. About 44% of I-terms were found partly to be matched or closely related with J-terms, of which analysis was left for further investigations.
