    Phospholipid polymer having zwitterion polar group and cell membrane structure is known as highly biocompatible and its functionality was already verified. In this study, new biocompatible multi-functional textile finishing agents based on phospholipid 2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine (MPCE) which was previously synthesized were applied to nylon and their multi-functional properties were characterized.

    In this study, the effect of adding bulking agents on properties of recycled handsheet, and sizing performance was evaluated. The density of handsheet decreased with recycling, and the addition of bulking agents further reduced it. Repeated recycling increased the total pore volumes, and the addition of bulking agents further increased it. In any case, the addition of the bulking agents contributed to the AKD retention. The addition of one of the bulking agents improved the sizing performance further only AKD on recycled handsheet. In the case of recycling 5 times, the ratio of the pore diameter region ranting from 4 to 8μm, it was confirmed that the increase of pore volume by addition of the bulking agents.

    Human hair keratin film has been used as an alternative to hair samples to evaluate various damages. This film consisted of keratin and keratin-associated proteins (KAPs). The function of KAPs on the molecular constitution of hair and keratin film remains unclear. Recently, we have developed a selective isolation method for keratin and KAPs from human hair. In this study, we proposed a novel keratin film lacking KAPs using the Pre-cast method. The concentration of acetic acid in the casting solution of hair protein solution was higher than that in hair protein solution lacking KAPs. The morphology and chemical properties of the KAPs free keratin film were compared with those of conventional and high acetic acid keratin films containing KAPs. The KAPs free and high acetic acid films were beige and semitransparent in appearance, whereas the conventional film was white and opaque appearance. SEM observation indicated the KAPs free film was made up reticular structure and the surface was covered by small particles around 1 μm in diameter. When these films were stained with oxidative hair color reagents, color deposits of the KAPs free and high acetic acid films were higher than that of the conventional film. Compared with hair sample, the formation of cysteic acid was significantly prompt in these keratin films. The amount of the KAPs free film was slightly lower than those of the conventional and high acetic acid keratin films. When reductive permanent reagent containing thioglycolic acid was added to these keratin films, the optical transmittance was decreased. And the decrease was recovered by oxidative permanent processing. The film formation technology will be useful to evaluate various functions under which keratin and KAPs were classified.

    Naphthazarin(5,8-dihydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone) exhibited high selectivity for F-, as compared with CN-, Cl-, Br-, HSO4-, H2PO4-, ClO- and NO3- in DMSO, which was attributed to the formation 1:1 complex. Interestingly, the blue color of the naphthazarin-F- complex could be recovered after the addition of Cr3+. We have investigated the ability of complex formation based on the association constant, Kass; the binding ability for the complex formation of naphthazarin-F- and Cr3+ is much greater in DMSO (Kass =5.3 × 104 M-1) than that of the naphthazarin with F- (Kass = 2.0 × 103 M-1).
