Flow field around the permeable wall cube placed on the flat plate has been investigated experimentally. Flow pattems around the permeable cube having the wide range of the open area
ratio β=0-0.64 are examined from flow visualization using a water tunnel. In the present paper,
furthermore the effects due to the flow direction, main flow velocity and boundary layer thickness
are reported. The results obtained show that hydraulic shadow becomes narrow as the open area
ratio increases and also flow directional angle enlarges. The flow pattems vary remarkably with the
change of the boundary layer thickness rather than the main flow velocity.
