This study explored the development trend of accumulation of farmland in specific rural communities by large-scale paddy tenant farming. It also examined directionality of relation of the specific rural community and large-scale paddy tenant farming, focusing on the large division rice field region in Hokuriku area.
The key focus areas are as follows:
(1) A record-high of large-scale paddy tenant farming was accompanied by accumulation of farmland in the local rural community.
(2) Formation of a “one-rural-community-one-farm system” by large-scale paddy tenant farming is expected in the near future.
(3) It was indicated that large-scale paddy farming is synonymous with a rural community and the large-scale paddy farming system also assumes initiative in the management aspect of a rural community.
