    The Hatozaki alkali dolerite sheet which is about 200m thick and a well-differentiated sheet occurs in the northern end of the Atumi dolerite district, Japan Sea coast. The age of intrusion is thought to the late Miocene in time (Kushiro, 1964). Although the dolerite is rather homogeneous, many dolerite-pegmatite, analcime monzonite, and analcime syenite veins and patches (up to 3cm thick) are found in the coarse-grained main body subparallel to the contact.
    Seventeen representative rocks have been chemically analysed (Table 1). The compositions of the dolerite-analcime syenite vary widely with the fractionation, showing the clear increase of silica and alkalis. The crystallization trend of the Hatozaki magma as shown in MgO-FeO+Fe2O3-Na2O+K2O diagram moves directly from Mg-rich side to alkali-rich side without iron concentration in the middle stage and follows that of the upper and lower Kayaoka and lower Sumiyoshizaki alkali dolerites of the same district (Kushiro, 1964).
    The mafic mineral assemblages of the Hatozaki sheet are very unusual, namely olivine, hypersthene and augite in dolerite, olivine, pigeonite and augite in monzonite and augite and soda-augite or aegirine-augite in syenite. It is considered that these are extreamly rare exception in the alkaline rock series.

    Reaction zone is observed between amphibolite and gneiss. It is about 16cm in width. Chemical compositions of plagioclases and biotites vary gradually from amphibolite to gneiss. The rate process of the formation of the reaction zone is not the diffusional process of K+, Ca++ and Mg++. Basic reaction is the formation of biotite in amphibolite, and K+, Mg++ and Al+++ of biotite are mainly derived from K-feldspar, actinolite and anorthite respectively.

    In Part I and II of this paper, the writer discussed the migrations and accumulations of natural gases from the angles of the characteristics of gases and waters and the formation pressures.
    Part III deals with the mode of occurrences of gases in Higashi-Niigata and Shiunji gas field.
    From these considerations, the writer comes to the following conclusions for the migrations and accumulations of natural gases in Niigata Prefecture.
    1. As expressed in isopachous map of each formation, the frameworks of sedimentary basins and modes of tectonic movements of basement seem to be different in each formation.
    2. By the modes of tectonic movements, occurrences of formations, supplying origins of sediments and sedimentary environments are controlled, and as a result, the characteristics of gas and water and tendencies of formation pressures have close relationships with formations.
    3. The writer presumes that in comparatively early stage after sedimentation, the genesis, migration and accumulation of natural gas virtually end, the reasons are (1) the characteristics of gases are different in each formation, (2) accumulations of gases are usually observed at the synchronous high areas of each formation.
