ジャーナル フリーPrior to detecting organic ingredients compounded in rubber with ultraviolet absorption spectra, the authors measured ultraviolet spectra of organic ingredients which are used in rubber industry -20 kinds of accelerator, 10 kinds of antioxidant, one kind of scorching-retarder and 7 kinds of softener.
The results obtained show that, with some exceptions, organic ingredients can be well detected when the concentration is 1-2mg in 100cc of the solvent.
The authors give further brief description of the relation between the chemical constitution and absorption spectra of compounding ingredients with similar chemical structure, and the easiness and difficulty of identification with absorption spectra of each organic compounding ingredient.抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (826K) -

ジャーナル フリーThe method of qualitative spectrophotometric analysis of thiuram and dithiocarbamate-type accelerators has been examined.
As rubber, of which vulcanisation has been accelerated by accelerators of this type, contains zinc dithiscarbamate, the authors extracted this compound with benzene or carbon tetrachloride, treated the extract with 1 % aqueous solution of CuSO4 containing 15 % of Na2SO4, obtained copper dithiocarbamate, tried on it chromatographic separation with silica gel as adsorbent and with a mixture of 0.5 part of ethyl ether and 99.5 parts of car bon tetrachloride as developer, measured ultraviolet absorption spectra of the separated product, and thus established the method of qualitative analysis of accelerators of this type.
The usual methods of analysis were chiefly based on spot-test, and with these methods it was impossible to identify the accelerator, though it was possible to confirm that thiuram-type accelerators or dithiocarbamate-type accelerators were compounded with the presnt method. However, the identification can be left in records by absorption spectra, and the detection can be made with high sensitivity without being hindered by other organic compounding ingredients.抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (1334K) -

ジャーナル フリーThe dispersion state of various fillers in rubber was observed directly by replica method of electron microscopy to study its relation to the properties of the rubber, especially the grain phenomena or callender effect. The rubber was mixed by common and brief methods, Compounding with the precipitated calcium carbonate (light, few μ, spindle-shaped) and the ultrafine calcium carbonate “Hakuenka” (0.04μ, cubic) as fillers. The section surfaces both parallel and perpendicular to the direction of roll running was observed by the perpendicular to the direction of roll running was observed by the replica image. The particles of the filler are arranged side by side linearly parallel to the roll direction in the former but at random in the latter. This proves obviously that tensile strength and modulus in the direction perpendicular to roll running are smaller than that in the parallel direction. It was also clarified by the direct observation of the bad dispersion of filler particles that the properties of rubber mixed by the brief method are inferior to that by the common method.抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (2173K) -

ジャーナル フリーIn adjusting tensile data of rubber compounds it has been recommended in the previous paper to estimate each average by means of the method of least squares from n ordered measurements. This estimation is performed by calculation which is troublesome to the routine worker. In order to reduce this difficulty the nomographs has been constructed.
