Physical properties of carbon black filled blend of sulfur-vulcanizable acrylic elastomer (ADM) and1, 2-polybutadiene (1, 2-PB) were measured.
Unvulcanizates had high green strength and vulcanizates had better tensile properties, oil resistance, compression set, temperature rise and dynamic compression set in compression fatigue test with Goodrich flexometer. Physical properties of blends, however, changed remarkably after heat-aging.It was estimated that aging of 1, 2-PB wwas promoted by curatives diffused from ADM phase.
On the other hand, the blends of ADM and amorphous1, 2-polybutadiene or
cis-1, 4-polybutadiene had also better physical properties.
