Using aged SBR vulcanized compound with carbon black, micro structure, physical property, dynamic modulus, friction coefficient, Trousers tear strength and macro wear volume were measured.
Through correlation study among these properties, the following results on a structure change about wear by aging were obtained.
(1) Friction coefficient which contributes to the structure in (L) phase and Trousers tear strength which contributes to the structure in (M+S) phase were decreased by aging.
Wear volume is determined by the balance of decrease in wear volume by friction coefficient and increase in wear volume by Trousers tear strength decrease.
(2) Friction coefficient and Trousers tear strength greatly decreased due to the change in the structure and physical properties by aging. It is inferred that wear after aging occurres as the complex phenomenon, separation of rubber molecular chain adhered on the contact surface, and separation of rubber debris by tear in quasi-glassy structure phase.
