the eastern & westertl valley-regions. in the Southern Shikoku District, included in the East-Setouchi and West-Srtouchi culture zone, show the cultural influences from their central zone in the host Jomon-Thype Era. The Soliving-centre. in the era of Yayoi-Type was Plain, central part of Southern Shikoku, unlike that of preceding era.
The irimperfections of the middle-era-culture is due to the ebuort oaa. development of culture. We cannot deny that the Southern Sliikoku culture zone was under the influence of these two enlightened distriets-Northern Kyushu and Kinai culture zone. We are to pay much attention to the fact m at all the bronze bottles were made in transformed Type, T. while the prirmitive formed ones are not found. The scarcity of old-tombs and the lowness of culture observed from the remains are the two prominent characteristics here. As the local centre grew firm, the culture zone here bad almost the same quality as in Kinai Culture Zone. It may be needless to say that the Southern Shikoku had close relation with Tenno-Country build in Yamato, as the causes of such strong cultural state.

The characteristic features of the lowlacd in Hokkaido are as follows:
    A. Parallel ridged coastal lowland:
There are rolling parallel ridges which run parallel or Nave trends with low angle to shore line. The zone of such ridges is several kilotmeter wide, with peaty fields in the depressions, often accompanied by sand dunes. Such lowlands are. named the parallell ridged coastal lowlands by the author. Their width is larger than Their width. is lartier than their height in gezaeral. But iaa the lowland along the Okhtsk sea their, height is much larger tlian their width. Their surfaces are protected from wind or rain wash erosion by forests and humus cover, and by volcanic materials in the southern volcanic reions. They are constructed by sands and in some special cases by graveIs. Primary forms of such lowlands may be developed by wave action at the shallow sea bottom. The typical exaliiples of such lowlands are found in following location; Yufutsu, Iwauai, Teshio, Yoichi, Suttsu etc.
    B. Coastal plains without parallel ridges:
The coastal plains without. parallell ridge are found along tie Japan Sea and in South Hokkaido. In these cases, sea cliffs face directly to sea.
We can use the types of, such coastal plains and other minor land forms together with their materials connected with the wave agency, as the indices of the sea level changes in the alluvial age.
The author described the lowland topography of Ishikar, Notstake, Yufutsu acid Embetsu, respectively, and concluded the differential earth movement in the alluvial age from their features.

The author's study of the clearings, reclaimed and settled since the close of the War on the slopes of volcano Akagi, may be sunimerized as follows:
    1. Owing to the previous reclaniations, the recent clearings are situated in high and cool regions on the northern slope, while on the southern slope, in comparatively dry areas.
    2. The clearers are not exclusively the younger sons of farmers, but of various origins. Before the settlement most of them had bee engaged, or at least, had had some experience in farming. The number of settlers coming from tie foot of the mountain ranks first, followed by that of those from level land villages in Gumma-ken.
    3. In most cases, the settlers get their driuking-water from wells. The wells on the southern slope are generally deep. A plan is now under concideration to lay. simple water-pipes to lead water from springs about 1000m. elevation. Owing to the comparatively largo acreage of each farm, the settlers built their houses wide apart, but, in future, houses are likely to be built more close together so that the settlers may get theirr drinking-water snore coMveniently.

Urawa, has been and is the capital of Saitanla, Prefectre, but lately it became to be joined, with the residental district of Tokyo in accordance with the expansion, of the latter.
Consequently, Urawa got to hold double role as the local city and the suburban district of metropolis Tokyo. This is one of the chief characteristics, that are held by most satellite cities around the metropolis.
In this paper, the writer tried to analyse some of such characteristics of Urawa, in several municipal functions, political, economical and cultural as well as of communication, comparing them with those of other local cities in Kwanto, district.
