A long-term intermittent chemotherapy with several anticancer drugs was evaluated from the survival rate of 198 cases with pulmonary cancer, all confirmed histologically. 50% survival periods were 13 months in treated group and 5 months in untreated group.
In every clinical stages-the stages according to the classification of the Japan Lung Cancer Societyand in all histological types, the survival rates in treated groups were far better than that in untreated groups.
There was no interrelationship, however, between the survival time and factors concerning hosts, such as hematocrit, leucoindex, total protein, A-G ratio, ESR, α2-globulin and the levels of lactic dehydrogenese.
Besides, an interesting case who had pleural effusion in which a peculiar alcaline phosphatase isoenzyme (Nagao isoenzyme) and amylase isoenzyme were found, was reported. These peculiar isoenzymes decreased rapidly in few days after the time of intrapleural administration of anticnacer drugs.

The long term survival rate over five years after surgery in the patients with lung cancer is very low in spite of establishment of various therapeutical procedures.
So, the purpose of this report is to describe about the histopathological considerations for 7 survivors (15.6%) out of 45 patients over 5 years after surgical procedure.
Histologically, the long term survivors were 4 cases among 22 of squamous cell cancer, 2 cases among 13 of adenocarcinoma and 1 case among 5 of undifferenciated cancer.
All cases surviving over 5 years were classifid I-II grade in CAT and 6 of 7 cases 1-2 grade in SAT, but could not find any relation between prognosis and mesenchymal reaction, except for the finding of no mesenchymolysis in long survival cases.

For the purpose of the induction of experimental lung cancer in rabbits similar to human lung cancer, were chemical carcinogens instilled to the lower bronchus through a polyvinyl tubing under bronchoscope. The rabbits were divided into two groups. One group received 3 methylcholanthrene and 4 nitroquinoline 1-oxide in vehicle of rabbit plasma and the other 3 methylcholanthrene alone in vehicle of distilled water. The dose instilled on each time, was 40mg of 3methylcholanthrene and 0.4mg of 4 nitroquinoline 1-oxide.Instillation was repeated every 7 to 10 days.
In both groups, lung cancer was induced in 128 of 265 rabbits which had received over 4 instillations of chemical carcinogens and survived for more than30days. Eighty there of developed metastases and/or invasion into the chest wall and diaphragm.
The histologic features were of various types such as squamous cell carcinoma, adeno carcinoma, undifferentiated cell carcinoma, pleomorphic carcinoma and often mixed types.

Clinical review was made on 25 patients with pulmonary metastases from primary bone tumors. The histology of bone tumor was osteogenic sarcoma in nineteen cases, fibrosarcoma in three, chondrosarcoma in two and Ewing's sarcoma in one. On chest X-ray film, large number of the cases had multiple lesions throughout both lung. Pulmonary resection was performed for the four cases with one isolated lesion on chest X-ray film. Small sized multiple growths were observed in two cases following the gross pathologic examination of these surgically resected specimens.
Almost cases died within two years except one case with the metastases from chondro sarcoma of femur. He survived more than four years after the resection of pulmonary lesion.
In order to improve the survival of the patients, early evidence of pulmonary metastasis should be sought through the radiography and radioisotopic measures at intervals in all cases. Systemic administration of anticancer chemotherapeutics seemed to be important for pre vention of the development of recurrent or metastatic growths following the entire removal of secondary lesion.

A case of primary adenocarcinoma of the lung with cylindromatous adenoma in a woman aged 65 was reported.
Histologically it showed the transition from cylindromatous adenoma to adenoid cystic carcinoma and adenocarcinoma tubulare in the different part of the same tumor.
It was suggested that this tumor was derived from cylindromatous adenoma, and its biological malignancy and the method of treatment were discussed.

Primary lung cancer was treated by Telecobalt in a method of heavy radiation during a short period of time.
Roentgenographically, the primary focus in both cases shows an almost complete regres sion. An buldging shadow of increased density developed in the irradiated area of the first case in course of the postirradiated follow-up and could not be decided whether the shadow should be a recurrence of the cancer or radiation fibrosis.
The autopsy revealed no surviving tumor cells in the primary lesion in the first case but tumor cells could be found in the shadow of increased density in the second case.
It is of our impression that the buldging shadow of increased density in the irradiated area could be hardly decided whether the recurrence of the cancer or radiation fibrosis in our case.
