In learning about mechanical motion and vibration problems, the first important thing for learners is to generate an
equation of motion. In general, Newton's second law is used to find the equation of motion, but Lagrange's equation of
motion is used for multi-degree-of-freedom problems and complex dynamical systems. The latter equation is a convenient
formula that can derive the equation of motion mechanically after obtaining all energies of the system. However,
Lagrange's equation of motion is difficult to understand for many learners. The reason seems to be that general textbooks
focus on the derivation of Lagrange's equation of motion and there are few explanations as tools. In consideration of the above circumstances, this study reports the creation of teaching materials for using Lagrange's
equation of motion as a tool. Specific examples from relatively easy problems to slightly more complicated problems are
also introduced.

In learning the issue of vibration, it is important to know the essence of the various problems in resonance, natural
frequency, natural vibration mode, and so on. However, it is really very hard to understand these phenomena. So, we
started to develop the experimental equipment for the purpose of observing the vibration of mechanical systems.
In this study, we have developed the effective teaching materials for beginners on vibration problems. Specifically,
they are an equipment for experiencing moments of inertia, various devices for learning simple harmonic motion (here,
spring- mass system and simple pendulum), and an apparatus for clarifying the difference between series and parallel of
synthetic springs.

In learning the issue of vibration, it is important to know the essence of the various problems in resonance, natural
frequency, natural vibration mode, and so on. However, it is really very hard to understand these phenomena. So, we
started to develop the experimental equipment for the purpose of observing the vibration of mechanical systems, especially
paying attention to resonance and natural vibration mode.
In this study, three interesting experimental apparatuses on vibration system were developed. The first one is a six
degrees of freedom vibration system composed of spring, mass and rigid body. The second is a rotary machine for
observing whiling motion and self-aligning action. And the last one is a device for observing friction vibration, especially
self-excited vibration. In order to verify the validity of the equipment, each vibration system was simulated using DSS
developed by one of the authors and compared with the experimental results.

Programming education will be compulsory in elementary schools from FY2020. We have received a request
from Osaki-Kamijima board of education for cooperation in programing education. In addition, Yamato Museum at
Kure requested the experience class for elementary school students in the Marine Day event. This paper describes the
implementation and results of the programming education support for elementary and junior high school students in
the community using our teaching material. Our college students also contributed the project as the teaching assistants.

This paper introduces a way of data input for the Number placement puzzle or SUDOKU using image
processing. The puzzle solving program was developed by using C language for the software engineering
class several years ago. Input data by hand is not easy, so the proposed method using image proccesing
makes it much easier.

This study was adopted by the Marine Education Pioneer School Program, which is being recruited by the Sasagawa
Peace Foundation. Along with the revision of the course of study, classes on the sea have been enhanced. Therefore, in this
study, we are developing a learning program to become a pilot school in marine education. The program is based on the
characteristics of the area that is a remote island, and a program has been developed that allows students who live on the
island to acquire knowledge that can respond even when they are involved in a flood accident.

The previous “Rare and Endangered plants of Osakikamijima-cho I, II”and “Rare Woody Plants of Osakikamijima”
reported the herbaceous plants on this island from the point of view of biodiversity conservation. A protective activities
of Hypericum oliganthum and Sparganium erectum mentioned in those papers is going on now. This paper reports rare
plants growing in Takehara, which is geographically near this island and its most closely related living area.

There are various species of the endangered herbaceous and woody plants in Osakikamijima. We have been researching
and trying to preserve such endangered plants since 2015. This research was reported from the aspects of our findings
(Ohnuma and Fujitomi 2017, 2018, 2019). This paper reports in-situ conservation activities of Hypericum oliganthum and
Sparganium erectum and ex-situ conservation of some other endangered plans in Osakikamijima.

To confirm the performance and selectivity of anti-fouling paints in the actual operation of Hiroshima Maru is
carried out. When the operation rate of the ship is low (about 10%) and the anchorage period is a long operating state, it is
effective to grasp the anti-fouling performance of low-operated vessels. The purpose of this paper is to verify the difference
in anti-fouling performance due to differences in anti-fouling agent components in low-operated ships.

In recent years, the decline of norm awareness among young people has become a social issue in Japan. Therefore, we introduced human resource development education as a new curriculum in 2012. However, at the department of maritime technology, all classes related to human power development education over the last eight years are scheduled to be closed. Since seafarers have a special job of maritime labor, the need for human resources training is very high. Department of maritime technology students think that there is a high need for human power and normativeness, and that they can overcome the special characteristics of maritime labor. According to the questionnaire results, it was found that there are many students who think that there is a need for human being power upbringing education class.

In this study, we reviewed previous studies on creativity education in physical education lessons in Japan. We have considered it based on 4 researches that are particularly noteworthy. The main conclusions were as follows. Although basic research and lesson study research have been progressing with a focus on dance etc, it has become clear that theoretical research based on them has become necessary in the future. The important thing about creativity education in physical education lesson is that physical education teachers consider what creativity is and give lessons that take advantage of the characteristics of physical education with physical activity.

In recent years, Japan’s National Institute of Technology (KOSEN) education has attracted newly developing Asian countries. With this regard, MEXT in Japan has been supporting the process of transferring KOSEN education to Mongolia and Thailand. This study, therefore, aims to report 1) the emergence, 2) the education system and 3) the process of KOSEN transfer to Thailand through document analysis and preliminary field visit in two colleges.
As a result, 1) the emergence of KOSEN was made up by match of the intention of both Thailand and Japan side. Particularly Thailand expects the education to foster the engineers who have both theoretical and practical ability on their field. 2) Thailand has “technical college” which is similar vocational education institute as KOSEN. The vocational education in Thailand, however, has some negative social status due to the tendency to prefer higher level of education and poor and violent image of vocational schools. 3) During the field visit, the information of curriculum, teaching force and carrier pass were collected. The KOSEN in Thailand has been less than 2 years, however, the information and practice are still limited.

In this article, we introduce the multiplication method taught in the Philippines. The method is very interesting, unlike the Japanese method which is supposed to be memorized. Therefore, We introduced this method to our students and made them think about why this method would work. Based on the results, we examine the value as a teaching material for Japanese mathematics education.

India’s mathematics education has attracted attention because it has been featured in numerous media. In this paper, we introduce the teaching materials of Indian arithmetic that we have created. It makes calculation and mental arithmetic surprisingly fast, and makes it difficult to make mistakes in mental arithmetic by using a method that is as easy as possible.

In this study, we analyzed the difference of reflection intensity regarding the materials of 4 different radar reflector structures. T he purpose of our study includes the analysis of the reflection intensity level of the oyster farming rafts shown on the radar screen and the following outlined findings were obtained
(1) There are small differences on the maximum intensity at the distance of measurement in the experiment. As a whole, the attenuance of reflection intensity was similar at all distances.
(2) In the order of strength of reflection intensity, the Toyohama-Ohashi Bridge is placed first and followed by the Akinada-Ohashi Bridge, the concrete structure and the oyster farming rafts. All the reviewed results show that the reflection intensity tends to be less for the experimental values than those for the theoretical values.
(3) The radar reflection intensity for the oyster farming rafts is -60dBm at the distance of 1000m, which is the lowest level among the materials compared in the experiment. The value 1000m is the threshold value for the radar image discrimination in the radar operation.

The authors have developed several teaching materials for learners of motion and vibration problems in
mechanical system. One is a software called DSS for motion and vibration simulation, which supports the sequence of
operation of numerically solving the motion equation and displaying the analytical results graphically. The other is an
experimental teaching material, and we have already completed its fifteen experimental apparatuses.
First, this paper overviews the development of our teaching materials. Second, in order to spread their use the
reconstruction of learning program for motion and vibration is proposed by using these materials. Third, the contents of the
popularization activities are introduced. Finally, delivery classes at 13 Colleges of Technology (KOSEN) are explained,
and the effectiveness of this teaching material is described based on its questionnaire survey of 593 students.
