    For the development of fusion reactor materials, this study has been conducted to discuss the effect of neutron irradiation on strength of materials suitable for nuclear fusion reactor.
    The materials used were two kinds of high manganese steel A-T (18Mn-6.8Cr-4.7Si) and B-T (22Mn-6.4Cr-4.4Si-0.18N).
    Cryogenic temperature strength of two kinds of high manganese steel and its electron beam welded joint are investigated under various irradiated condition.
    Results obtained from tensile tests with miniature specimens are as follows.
    (1) At cryogenic temperature high manganese steel A-Texhibits a faint serration, B-T shows a clear serration.
    (2) Ultimate tensile strength and 0.2% proof stress of base metal and electron beam welded joint of A-T and B-T increase with increasing of neutron fluence.
    (3) Elongation of base metal and electron beam welded joint of A-T and B-T decreases with increasing of neutron fluence.

    Recently, there has been a considerable interest in the J-integral in relation to the ductile fracture of high toughness material. The evaluation of the J-integral becomes an important issue for safety assessment of plants.
    In this paper, the elastic-plastic fracture analysis code “FRACT-2D” has been developed by the author for evaluating the J-integral of an axi-symmetric crack problems using the finite element method. To verify the accuracy of this code, the fracture parameters are calculated for a round bar with a circumferential crack. The numerical results are shown to have good agreement with the calculated results by the simplified method. Furthermore, applying this code to an axi-symmetric crack located at the toe of the fillet weld joint of a 113, 000kl oil storage tank, the J-integral and the crack opening displacement are evaluated numerically under various crack depthes.

    A torispherical shell is known to buckle with circumferential waves on a knuckle region, when it is subjected to excessive internal pressure. The circumferential waves observed are caused by bifurcation buckling.
    In the present study, we performed the elastic-plastic creep buckling analysis of a torispherical shell subjected to internal pressure to examine the possibility of the bifurcation buckling mentioned above under the elevated temperature condition where significant creep deformation occurs. The internal pressure close to the bifurcation buckling pressure obtained from a static bifurcation buckling analysis was applied to a torispherical shell in the present analysis.
    In conclusion, the possibility of the bifurcation creep buckling was denied by the following reasons.
    (1) The negative circumferential membrane force at a knuckle region which is a trigger for the bifurcation buckling changes to positive due to creep deformation.
    (2) The plastic zone existing at the time of 0hr disappears due to the stress redistribution caused by creep deformation.

    Steel structures in service condition, such as bridges, offshore-structures and steel towers, are subject to pulsating loads caused by vehiles, waves, current, wind, etc.
    “Welding under pulsating loads” cannot be avoided in the case of repair, reinforcement and reconstruction works.
    In this study, the deciding method of the initiation of hot crack was investigated by using the results of hot weld crack test under pulsating loads. Moreover, hot crack was considered from a mechanical point of view.
    The main results are as follows;
    (1) The equation for the initiation condition of hot crack under pulsating loads was shown. Moreovere, based on it, the equation to decide the initiation of hot crack was also shown, in which relative root gap opening displacement, Δδ, that can easily measured before welding was used as a practical mechanical measure.
    (2) For the case that the uniform loads are applied, the practical deciding equation for the initiation of hot crack was shown in non-dimentional form. Moreover, applying it to the results of hot crack test under pulsating loads, the validity was concretely shown.
    (3) The critical strain curve for hot crack of weld metal used in this study was shown.
    (4) The concrete procedure to apply the evaluating equation for hot crack was shown. Besides, so far as the evaluating equation proposed in this paper is used, critical strain is not neccessary to be obtaind.

    For evaluating a bonding strength between a cladding metal and a base metal of clad, there are a shear strength test and a ram tensile test. The JIS G 0601 (Testing methods for clad steel) specified the shear strength test as the only evaluation method. However, this test is pointed out to be unsuitable as a indication of bonding strength. This is due to a reason why there is little summary systematically on the evaluation of bonding strength though many papers were published.
    Thererfore, the authors have investigated many literatures and summarized as a fundamental data on the bonding strength of the clad, in particular the stainless clad steel. The investigated items in this paper are as follows; static strength tests (the bending test, the shear strength test and the ram tesile test). fracture toughness tests, fatigue tests and nondestructive tests.
