This paper introduces and attempts to analyze Quelques poèmes (Some Poems, 1919), a French
poetry booklet with illustrations by Foujita Tsuguharu, who became a leading artist of the Ecole
de Paris. Published in Paris, the poems were authored by Komaki Ohmi, who specialized in
French literature and sociology, and was a pioneer in the early peace movement. Originating from
Tsuchizaki in Akita, Japan, Komaki Ohmi was one of the founders of the now internationally
recognized Tanamakuhito, the first Japanese proletarian literature periodical, published in Akita in
1921.
