I am involved in informing public the fact that the elderly who has a cerebrovascular disease or a femoral head fracture can live independently without being bedridden, through the missions of the Biophilia Rehabilitation Academy. Biophilia Rehabilitation Academy is a Japanese Non-Profit Organization for the diffusion and study of Biophilia Rehabilitation that consists of Takizawa rehabilitation program, Motivative exercise and home care.
Ladies and gentleman I was concerned with the work of the rehabilitation for a long time. I am pleased to exchange the cross-border information and opinions with the people who aim the same goal here today. Japan comes up against an aging society at a speed in which anyone had never experienced in the world for this half-century. Moreover, the medical expenses for elderly increase in that condition and become enormous cost. And it influenced the general medical treatment as the result. Japanese don't approve the matter that a cost to spend on the medical relations exceeds 7% of the gross domestic product. The spot of the rehabilitation is not an exception as well. Therefore rehabilitation in the medical institutions that are hospitals to the center became the tendency that it was limited to a short time of the acute term. We made an independent life maintain and a health life grow a goal. Therefore we further the act to make Community Rehabilitation Network (CRN) build. I think it is possible to say a city pattern CBR (Community Based Rehabilitation). I think it is probably a common problem in the countries that medical modernization and social aging precede. I hope for a rewarding symposium.
Takizawa Program for Rehabilitation is carried out to the bedridden inpatients with the health care facility for the elderly by the physical therapist, where is occupied the bedridden in the majority. Improvements of the transfer and toilet activities were confirmed. It is suggested that the rehabilitation by the program is effective against the significant cases of the function decline and also the cases passed a long time after symptoms first appeared.
We have developed a new type 4 wheels walker with 2 fore sleds to evaluate its effect to prevent the depression of body function after the femoral neck fracture and other disease. We could conclude the good result by this new walker to use.
We enforced the supplementary examination of the Takizawa program by the at-home rehabilitation. We demonstrated that the program was effective for at-home rehabilitation in three examples and available with any physical therapist.
We propose a video image recognition system for a kinetic analysis of rehabilitation trainings. The experimental results show our method can be applied to noisy video inputs without requiring ad hoc equipment.
