The purpose of the paper is two-fold: The first is to develop a formal argument on the hypergame with inter-identification and the second is to apply the theoretical argument to a real problematic situation not only for demonstrating the validity of the theoretical results but also for obtaining suggestions for the problem improvement. The hypergames analysis is one of what we call soft systems approaches and was originally proposed to analyze complex decision situations involving several participants by extending the game theory. The hypergame, different from the usual game analysis, explicitly assumes that the participants in the same decision situation perceive it differently because of diversity of their value systems and of the ways of perception. We first reformulate concepts of the simple hypergames rigorously and define the hypergames with inter-identification as a system consisting of simple hypergames connected by the mutual identificcation. We then propose a definition of solutions for them. Based on the formulation, the paper derives existence conditions of the solutions. The conditions tell us whether or not the hypergame with inter-identification emerges new solutions that have not existed in the simple hypergames. Finally we apply the framework to a realistic problem, i.e., Japan-US trade imbalance problem to demonstrate the validity of the derived theoretical results as well as to obtain some suggestions to improve the problematic situation.

It is expected that, in near future, a technology of renewable energy utilization and an electric storage battery will be introduced into the conventional electric power system.
In this study, assuming that a photovoltaic power generation system (PV system) is installed into the electric power system with a storage battery, the impacts of uncertain variation characteristics of the PV system output on the operations of the conventional power generation system and the storage battery are evaluated by simulations, mainly from the viewpoint of economics. According to the results of simulations, it is clearly demonstrated that economic effects of the PV system are influenced sharply by the forecast accuracy of its output.

An on-line fault diagnosis scheme for adaptive controlled systems designed by a self-tuning approach is proposed. A physical parameter change in the controlled system can effectively be detected by using Kullback Discrimination Information (KDI) as an index for model discrimination. In the adaptive controlled system, parameter changes may occur under the normal operation, as well as under a failed situation. In order to decide whether the detected system parameter change really means a fault occurrence or not, a fuzzy inference approach to fault diagnosis is considered. Some appropriate membership functions which describe fuzzy events of the fault are constructed to implement the fuzzy inference. In this way, useful knowledge about fault modes obtained from, e. g. experts, can be introduced into the model-based diagnosis technique. Simulation studies on a second order damped oscillator have been carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the method.

A digital divider circuit module is proposed, which is easily cascadable to perform division for any word length. Many algorithms for division have been considered, but they are only valid within the division capability, and insofar as we know, there are not the cascadable dividers up to the present at least.
Now, the division usually have been performed by software and there are few one-chip dividers. The proposed divider is cascadable to perform division for any word length with out the use of external circuitry, therefore the number of cascaded modules can be changed dynamically, so that it is useful for a system, where many high speed divisions and less speed but high precision divisions coexist, as in the application to robot control and fuzzy control. In is also useful for macro cells as divider modules in VLSI, and we can design a system without restriction of the division capability.
The proposed method will have a important merit of making one-chip integrated dividers.

We have first constructed a kinetic numerical model of the microwave-discharge-pumped KrF (BX) excimer lamp with He and/or Ne buffer systems, so that high-efficiency lamp characteristics obtained experimentally could be theoretically explained in terms of total gas pressure and gas mixture. With this lamp model analysis, it was revealed that high intrinsic efficiency of around 10% is obtainable with He-diluted and Ne-diluted mixtures, that the mean electron energy is 4-6 eV the same as that of the conventional discharge-pumped KrF laser, and then that the dominant channel (>80%) in KrF*formation is the neutral reaction (Kr*+F2). This theoretical analysis also indicated that intrinsic efficiency improvement with two-component buffer gas mixture is due to the increase of KrF* formed via two reaction channels (Kr+F2*, Kr++F-).
