This paper is concerned with the synthesis of a multivariable control problem for power system by using optimization method. The power system dynamics based on the usual assumptions can be formulated as a class of non-linear dynamic systems in which are contained the sinusoidal functions associated with the power torque-angle curve of AC generator. Then, an optimal control law, which retains the principal non-linearity of the power system, is deribed by using the optimization techniques in the linear optimal control theory, and the feedback gain matrices are obtained by solving matrix equations appeared in the optimization procedure. In this paper, the conditions for existence of optimal solution of these matrix equations are deribed by using the Anderson's theorem. The stability criterion for the control system is discussed from the point of view of Lur'e-type Lyapunov function. Thus, the optimal control law can be applied to a class of non-linear dynamical system, in which is represented by the dynamic equations divided into linear and non-linear terms.

In this paper, a new matching method by fuzzy inference is proposed. In vowel, variations of the formant frequencies depend on speakers and spoken situation. It is difficult to decide a prior value of width of the variations, so we represent their variations as fuzziness and make fuzzy rules. For consonant recognition, it is difficult to extract feature parameters. Therefore, here we use characteristics about configuration of autocorrelation function, power, zero crossing rates, and logarithmic energies.
As a result of experiment on the recognition of continuous Korean speech, it is shown that the fuzzy inference is effective to speech recognition of unspecified persons.

Progress in computer and communication technology has made it possible to construct a large scale control system. However, expansion of a control system will make it more difficult to design control software. In designing a large scale control system, it is hard to understand the relationship between computers such as flow and synchronization of tasks and messages. To solve this problem, we are developping a system to visualize control software in order to access information regarding the performance of total control system accurately and easily.
This paper describes characteristics of large scale control systems, the method of its visual representation, configuration and the role of the visualization tool, and efficiency of the visual design method.

This paper proposes a 3-layered neural net model that can recognize rotated patterns by learning only standard patterns. The weights of connections are learned by the error back-propagation algorithm under some equivalence constraints to realize the rotation invariant nets. Since this model removes the influence of rotation and descriminates patterns parallely and distributedly, it has following merits: its design is easier, the net size is smaller, learning and recognizing time is shorter than the conventional sequential models that have a fixed rotation invariant net followed by an adaptive net.
