    Routing method with dynamic channel selection in wireless sensor networks is an effective to specify a route, is different from communication between nodes in a common channel, and is able to transmit the data included the attribute information. In this case, a node to be located in the middle of a course uses a different channel, a normal communication between nodes is stayed temporarily and throughput decreases as a result. Instead, for applications to be built by another wireless network originally, it could be expected as an effective communication traffic control method that we are able to avail ourselves to this route, such as emergency information need to send data immediately for example. In this study, we propose a time division communication system that can give right of priority for data transmission involved attribute information by adding element of priority information to transmission data packet. This method has the rule that each router comes up relay node in the middle of priority path temporarily occupies as these nodes of the string, and in contrast, lays other relay nodes not on the course stay all the time, while priority path goes on.

    We have developed monolithic SOI type 1200V level shifters for inverter driver ICs, which are based on a new design concept of cascaded 120V LDMOSFETs. In order to clarify the problem of blocking voltage lowering against a high dV/dt surge, we have analyzed transient behavior of monolithically cascaded LDMOSFETs by numerical simulations and experiments. As a result, we have established a new design concept including device layouts and circuits, which minimizes breakdown voltage lowering at very high dV/dt of 20kV/μs. This concept is expected to be a key technology enabling 1200V SOI inverter driver ICs for harsh applications such as automotive electronics.

    A stacked type chain PRAM which enables to realize lower cost than flash memory has been proposed. The newly proposed memory cell is consisted with a PCM for data storage and a MOS transistor connected in parallel. This memory cell is connected in series for realizing the chain structure. Cell structure, the design method for realizing stable read and write operation, and core circuit for the stacked type chain PRAM have been described. Newly proposed memory cell has been designed to adopt BiCS (Bit Cost Scalable) process technology for realizing low-cost memory. The design of the resistance of PCM and the pass transistor is key issue for realizing stable operation. For designing the row decoder, the circuit concept of the stacked FeRAM with the NAND structure cell has been successfully adopted with SGT. The newly proposed stacked type chain PRAM is a promising candidate for realizing high-speed and low-power future non-volatile semiconductor memory.

    Electronic devices handling confidential information, such as IC cards, are secured by encrypting data. The encryption standard, which has been widely diffused in recent years, is certified that its decryption is computationally impossible. However, although an encryption algorithm is theoretically secured, when the algorithm is incorporated into hardware, confidential information about the algorithm could be improperly specified by analyzing power consumption that is generated during cipher processing. Therefore, when an encryption algorithm is incorporated into hardware, it is important to evaluate the resistance against power analysis attacks in the design stages. This paper proposes a new vulnerability evaluation for power analysis attacks. The proposed method can not only achieve a high-speed, highly accurate verification but also quantitatively evaluates a weak part. Experimental results prove the validity of the proposed tamper resistant analysis method.

    The tri-plate transmission line is usually fabricated by etching copper-coated dielectric substrates to support the center conductor. However, the dielectric loss of the dielectric substrates is no longer negligible increasing operational frequencies, and this fact causes difficulty for loss reduction of filters at millimeter-wave frequencies. With this in mind, the tri-plate transmission line structure to be able to support the center conductor without the dielectric substrates was devised and a bandpass filter made by only metal strip was designed and fabricated as a trial at 30GHz.

    A vertical strip transmission line primary radiator using the Glass Fiber PTFE substrate was proposed for use in a slit array planar antenna, and the usefulness was confirmed at 60GHz. In this paper, the Glass Fiber PTFE substrate was replaced by the FR-4 substrate from the viewpoint of cost reduction. At first, the center conductor of the vertical strip transmission line was cranked and the return loss characteristics as well as the radiation patterns were calculated as a function of each dimension. From the calculation, the optimum shape was decided. Next, we calculated the reflection and radiation characteristics when the primary radiator was located in a housing for measurement. Finally, we confirmed the investigated vertical strip transmission lime radiator would be suitable for applications to the primary radiator for use in the millimeter-wave planar antennas from the calculated and measured results.

    To easily clarify the operation principle of the band-stop type of self-injection locked NRD guide Gunn oscillator, we investigated its equivalent circuit model and calculated various characteristics of the oscillator using the model in this paper. As a result, the characteristics of the measured results conformed closely to those of the calculated results. It was obvious that the operation principle can be derived from the equivalent circuit model.

    To investigate the dynamics of neuronal networks, the device which is capable of multipoint simultaneous measurement and multi-scale miniature neuronal networks construction was fabricated. The result of culturing rat embryo hippocampal neurons showed that the device is biocompatible and can be successfully used in long-term culture. Analysis of the electrical data obtained with the device suggested that, in miniature neuronal networks consisted of about 2000 neurons, there were phenomena of spatiotemporal activity patterns of neurons which were considered to be very important to the process of storing and transforming information of a brain.

    In the rehabilitation for the motor function recovery, the menu of the rehabilitation has been decided based on doctor's subjectivity by knowledge and the experience. However, the decision based on doctor's subjectivity has the possibility of inviting the result that the judgement is different in each doctor. On the other hand, authors were relating “muscular power coefficient”, that showed the relation of EMG (Electromyogram) and muscular load, and bodily features in the nonlinear model by GP (Genetic Programing). As a result, a muscular condition was enabled to be estimated objectively only by knowing patient's bodily features. This paper proposed the improvement of the estimation accuracy by clustering based on subject's bodily features, and constructing the nonlinear model in each class. The effectiveness of the proposed method is shown by the experimental work using the subjects at two or more ages.

    This research develops a new roadmap method for autonomous mobile robots based on variable-resolution partitioning of continuous state space. Unlike conventional roadmaps which include position information only, the proposed roadmap also includes velocity information. Each node of the proposed roadmap consists of a fixed position and a range of velocity values, where velocity ranges are determined by variable-resolution partitioning of velocity space. An ordered pair of nodes are connected by a directed link if any combination of velocity values within the ranges represented by the nodes produce a trajectory satisfying a set of safety constraints. In this manner, an executable trajectory connecting arbitrary starting node and destination node is obtained by applying a graph search technique on the proposed roadmap. The proposed method is evaluated through simulations.

    Protecting the private information in terminal devices from third parties is currently a major security concern. For tackling the objective, the person authentication by passwords has predominantly been used. However, since password configuration and unlock are cumbersome work, people sometimes do not configure password on their terminal devices. This paper presents a novel person authentication system that uses a pressure distribution sensor. The proposed system activates when the user holds a terminal device. Thus, users can easily configure password and unlock their terminal devices. Besides, the user's burden in our system is low because our system does not require any specific user's actions such as gripping a finger tightly. Moreover, the responsiveness of our system is high because our system completes the person authentication by one second holding. In evaluation experiments, the false rejection rate was 3% and the false acceptance rate was 6%. Moreover, we found that shape and the pressure value around index finger, middle finger, thenar eminence, and hypothenar eminence were important factor in the proposed person authentication system.

    Human visual sensation has an ability finding a continuous curve from a noisy binary image. In the previous paper, we have proposed a high-precision method to detect perceptive curves from a binary image. Pre-reported method generates a graph that is accumulated evaluation values of appropriate partial curves. Then a perceptive curve is detected by global edge tracing from the graph. This method has a problem that partial curve searching requires long times. To solve this problem, an evaluation function employed in this method is deformed into a recurrence relation. Then we exhibit that Dynamic Programming can be applied to a partial curve searching algorithm. Moreover by ordering a searching-priority in the searching, calculation costs can be reduced without an additional parameter and an accuracy deterioration. Experimental results show that a processing speed of proposed method is 165 times faster than pre-reported method as the average. It is also shown that proposed method is faster than conventional methods.

    This paper proposes a new and more reliable method for template matching that builds the algorithm that automatically divides blocks into conventional method. A template image is divided with arbitrary block size. In each block, to calculate the degree of similarity among contiguous block. If the degree of similarity is high, their blocks are connected. In addition, to calculate the degree of similarity uses correlation coefficient from ZNCC. Template matching is performed using foregoing blocks by EBM. The experimental results show that the proposed method was robust to images partially concealed and images uniformly changed gray level with the conventional methods.

    Pedestrian protection is an active area in the research field of advanced driver assistance systems. A pedestrian who intends to cross the road is more critical to the driver than one who has no intention. This paper proposes a method for estimating the crossing intention of a pedestrian on a sidewalk from the pedestrian's posture and change in posture in multiple frames during a short period of video images. It is assumed that a pedestrian in the input video is detected and tracked with some method, and the bounding boxes of a pedestrian in the input video frames are already available. First, the appearance feature of the pedestrian posture is extracted from the image and the feature vector is quantized, and a sequence of the appearance feature of the posture coded by vector quantization is obtained for a single pedestrian in multiple image frames. Then, the probability that the pedestrian intends to cross the street is calculated by a probabilistic model from the sequence of posture for the past n frames. We evaluate the method in an indoor simulated environment and demonstrate the results and performance.

    Individuals in the swarm intelligence systems are generally designed to be able to perform cooperative behaviors. However, those individual are usually with simple structures, i.e., there are few models of individuals with high cognitive functions, e.g., pattern recognition, adaptive learning, self-organizing and so on. In this paper, we propose a neuro-fuzzy reinforcement learning system as a common internal model of the intelligent individuals, i.e., the intelligent agents or multiple autonomous mobile robots. In the proposed model, the local environment information observed by a learner is recognized by a self-structuring neuro-fuzzy network (Fuzzy Net), and a conventional reinforcement learning algorithm named “sarsa” is adopted into the system for modifying the connections between the part of Fuzzy Net and state-action value functions to acquire adaptive behaviors. Swarm of agent is also available to be formed by the proposed method adopting reward/punishment during the learning process. According to the results of simulations of dealing with goal-navigation exploration problems, “swarm learning” i.e., suitable distances between individuals are evaluated with positive rewards during the learning process, showed higher efficiency compared with the opposite case of “individual learning”.

    Energy management systems (EMS) on demand sides are expected as a method to enhance the capability of supply and demand balancing of a power system under the lack of sufficient electricity supply capacity after the Great East Japan Earthquake and increasing renewable energy generation such as Photovoltaics (PV). EMS is supposed to determine the optimal daily operation of energy appliances including energy storage factors economically and efficiently to satisfy user's desire taking account of forecasted energy demand and supply given by renewables such as PV. Energy demand forecast, being one of important factors to realize EMS, it is very difficult because building energy consumption structure is not elucidated sufficiently due to the variation of appliances and life styles. We need the information which kind of electricity demand has a likelihood of activation (shifted or reduced) for the forecast in EMS. Grasping energy consumption structure in a building contributes to not only demand forecast but also extraction of potential energy saving.
    In this paper, we propose pattern recognition method of circuit currents including periodic or spike wave obtained by circuit level monitoring.
